Castle Dale branch manager Ed Christianson awards Laurel Lemon with a scholarship.

Laurel Lemon, a 10th grade “A” student at Emery High, won the regional drawing for a $150 scholarship savings account from Zions Bank’s Pays for A’s Program. She received the surprise news about the scholarship from Principal Gwen Callahan and Zions Bank’s Castle Dale branch manager Ed Christianson during her home room class on May 26.
Earlier this year, Lemon brought her report card with at least one “A” grade into Zions Bank’s Castle Dale branch. She received a gift certificate and, for each “A” on her report card, an entry form for the Zions Pays for A’s scholarship savings account contest. Lemon’s name was selected randomly in a drawing among entrants throughout the Carbon-Emery region.
Zions Bank’s “Pays for A’s” program rewards hardworking students in middle school, junior high, and high school for their scholastic success. Each time students receive an official report card for the 2004-2005 school year, they may take it to any Zions Bank branch location. A Zions employee will check the report card for at least one “A” grade, then will give the student a gift certificate for a McDonald’s hamburger and a voucher for downloading online music for free.
Students have until July 1 to submit all of their report cards from the 2004-2005 school year and enter the statewide drawing for a $1,000 scholarship grand prize.
“The ongoing Zions Pays for A’s program allows us to recognize good students like Laurel who excel in their studies. We at Zions Bank are proud to help local teachers and parents in their efforts to encourage teens to do their very best in school,” said Christianson, manager of Zions Bank’s Castle Dale branch.
Zions Pays for A’s is open to all middle school, junior high and high school students in Utah. Students who have already received report cards for the 2004-2005 year are welcome to bring them to any Zions Bank office to enter the contest through July 1. Students need not be customers of Zions to participate. More information and full contest details are available online at www.zionsbank.com/pays4as.
