Millsite Reservoir is spilling, with water shooting out and over the spillway. This is good news for an area stricken with drought the past six years. Ferron residents enjoy a limitless supply of water as long as the spilling continues. The downside of such spillage is that the water is mostly wasted and just runs on its way downstream where it meets Cottonwood Creek and Huntington Creek to form the San Rafael River dumps into the Green River and eventually ends up in the Colorado River.
Additional storage facilities are needed in the Ferron area to stop this flow of water from the county. As always, projects of this type take money and avenues of funding are being looked for to help curtail the flow. Possible holding ponds or another smaller reservoir is being looked at.
The high water flows have the green grass growing at the Millsite Golf Course, things are up and running there with the addition of a business manager, Jordan Leonard. Leonard replaces Steve Burke who has taken a job at the Logan golf course.
Some golf course improvements include a fence which has been relocated on hole number six which widened the fairway around the green.

Other fairways have been widened and extended to increase playability. They have worked hard in replacing dirt areas with more grass at the course.
Another addition to the golf course has been the establishment of a Millsite Golf Course Improvement Committee.
The group has been working on ideas to draw more people to the course. They are working on promotional brochures to have available for conventions and trade shows visiting the Wasatch Front area.
Work is also being done with travel agents to put together packages for traveling executives looking for a short retreat out of the Salt Lake area for a vacation day or two before returning home.
A youth league and ladies golf association are also up and running at the course. For information on the youth league contact the Emery County Recreation District at 381-2108.

One tasty new addition to the golf course is the Ole’ Millsite Restaurant which is operated by Jerry and Gerry Stotler.
Jerry is the head cook and Gerry takes care of the customers and does all of the baking for the customers. The restaurant is open Tuesdays-Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Stotlers will do special dinners for large groups by request. This week they will host the BLM RAC who will be visiting the area.
They are just beginning to serve dinner which is by reservation only. Call 384-2438 to contact the Stotlers. A brunch is held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The menu features hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and a variety of side dishes. A daily special is also offered. The Stotlers have extensive experience in the restaurant business in California and are enjoying the Emery County people.
For a quick getaway, the people at Millsite Golf Course and Restaurant are encouraging the county people to rediscover Millsite and what it has to offer.
