The BLM RAC tours the Wedge.

On June 13, members of the State Bureau of Land Management Resource Advisory Council (RAC) met at the county building in Castle Dale. The RAC is made up of citizens of the state representing various interests, including grazing, preservation, motorized recreation and non-motorized recreation. Fourteen members met at a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss issues of concern throughout the state of Utah. Topics of local interest which were on the agenda were the Price and Richfield Resource Management Plans, Recreation Use and Permits, and the Goodwill Rider program.
The RAC is an advisory committee to the State BLM Office. State Director Sally Wisely sits on the council and Commissioner Drew Sitterud is a local representative on the council. Council members were treated to dinner at The ‘Ole Millsite Restaurant and on Tuesday took a half day tour of The Wedge Overlook, Buckhorn Draw and had lunch at the campground at Swinging Bridge before departing. There was much discussion with the council at the Wedge Overlook, where BLM is proposing management changes which have been brought on by the presence of the San Rafael cactus, a plant listed as endangered and therefore requiring special protection.
Price Field Office personnel, Sheriff Guymon and Public Lands Administrator Ray Petersen accompanied the group as they toured the area.
