Makeover Artists


Emery County Fair is looking for makeover artists to perform free makeovers at the fair on Aug. 6 from noon-2 p.m. This will include hair, make-up, pedicures, manicures, and massage. The fair will pay for supplies used. If you are interested in participating at the Emery County Fair, contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108 by July 15.

Art Show at the Museum of the San Rafael


Artist Joe Venus is having a special art exhibit at the Museum of the San Rafael on July 7 at 6:30 p.m. Joe has shown in art galleries from California to New York. He has served as supervisor of fine arts at the Utah State Fair, and also awards a scholarship each year. His American culture, wildlife, and rodeo cowboy prints will be shown at the Museum.

Huntington Beautification


Have you noticed the new street lights on Huntington’s Main Street? The Beautification Committee has decided that the town needs more of the lights along Main Street. If there are any residents who wish to make a donation toward acquiring more lights, take the donation to city hall. For more information contact Lorraine Dingman at 687-9459.

Scrapbook and Craft Expo


A scrapbook and craft expo will be held in the Wellington City Hall, in conjuction with Pioneer Days, on July 22 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and on July 23 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Booth deadline is July 8. Call Klene Powell at 435-637-0915 for more information.

Cleveland Days


Cleveland Days will be held July 19-23. Activities will be a family barbeque, youth dance, bike ride, lamb fry, dance featuring Keele N Time, parade, games, and fireworks. Watch for more details.

Open House for Farm Bureau financial


The recently opened Farm Bureau Financial Services will host an open house on July 8 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 70 East Main in Castle Dale. Tyler Jeffs if the agent. Refreshments and drawings for prizes will be offered.

Castle Valley Pageant


The 2005 Castle Valley Pageant will be held July 28-30 and Aug. 2-6 at 9 p.m. each evening. Defensive Driving Class

Emery County Fair Parade


We are welcoming all to join in making the 2005 Emery County parade the best ever. Build a float as a family, church group, youth city council group, sports group, cheerleading group, FFA, 4-H, lifeguards, you name it. Our idea is to go back to the old days when we had floats and not just cars. Just think of the fun you’ll have making your first float. There will be cash prizes given away for many different categories. Show your Emery County spirit and build a float. Miss/Mrs. Utah Model

Heber Valley Hoedown


Climb aboard the Heber Valley Railroad for a western hoedown with music by the Backwoods Cowboy Band, and a homestyle meal. Bring you dancing shoes as square dancing will be taught. Events will take place July 15 and Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. For information and reservation call 435-654-5601.

Soldiers Seek Donations


Soldiers from the 115th Maintenance Company, Utah Army National Guard Unit, currently in Iraq, have adopted two schools there, and in their spare time, they are building desks and shelves in these schools. These soldiers are seeking sponsors that are willing to donate money and/or school supplies and equipment that these schools need. Grant Writing Workshop

Emery County Senior Golf League


Emery County seniors, ages 50 and over, are welcomed to come and play in the league continues every Wednesday. Starting time is 8 a.m. with a shotgun start and will be a 4-man scramble format. Rabbit Show at the Junior Livestock Show


The rabbit show, which will be held at the Ferron Fairgrounds during the Southeastern Utah Junior Livestock show, on July 8, will begin at 5 p.m. Come out and show your pet or your purebred rabbits. This will be a lot of fun.

Design Arts Utah Exhibition


The Design Arts Program of the Utah Arts Council is having its third annual exhibit in tribute to design in Utah. It runs until July 29 at the Rio Gallery located in the historic Rio Grande Train Station, 300 South Rio Grande( 455 West) in Salt Lake City. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 to 5 p.m. (excluding state holidays).

U of U Invites Nominations of Veterans


The University of Utah will host its eighth annual Veteran’s Day Commemoration Program on Nov. 11. honoring all Utah veterans who have served our country in military service. Emery County Fair Exhibits


The home arts exhibits welcomes anyone interested in displaying their sewing, knitting, painting, quilting, canning, baked goods, stained glass, woodworking, metal art, photographs, needlepoint, gardening, etc. during the Emery County Fair, Aug. 4-6. Great Summer at Castle Dale Library


All the action began on June 1 at the Castle Dale Library. The theme for the summer programs at the libraries in Emery County is Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds. In keeping with that theme, the summer reading program, the schedule is with dragons; July 6-royal read; July 13-magical mayhem; and the summer finale July 20-Hogwarts School. The reading club “Joust Read” began June 1, where readers can earn one Sickle (Hogwarts coin) to be used at the summer finale. A special young adult program, “Ye Knights of the Order of the Castle (Dale Library), for ages 8 and older, will be held on June 21 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.; and July 5 and 20 at 1 p.m.

Green River Kid’s Cafe


The Green River Community Center announces the sponsorship of the summer food service program. Free meals will be available to attending children. Meals will be served at the Green River Community Center in the Kid’s Cafe Monday-Friday. Morning snack-8:45-9 a.m.; lunch-12-12 :30 p.m. (both through the summer food program); and dinner (through the Utah Food Bank) from 4-4:30 p.m.

State Fair Music Competition


Musicians are being sought for the annual Classical Music Competition to be held during August at the Utah State Fairpark. Classical music students from ages 8-23 are encouraged to participate. Emery Pioneer Day


There is still room for vendors at Emery Town’s annual Pioneer Day celebration, which will be held on July 23. Food Vendors Wanted

Project ChildSafe


Project ChildSafe, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation will be distributing free gun locks throughout Emery County. Members of the community may call their local law enforcement agency for information on how to obtain a free gun lock.

AA and NA Meetings


AA and NA meetings will be held at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. AA will be Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. NA meetings will be Thursday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Pioneer Museum


New hours for the Pioneer Museum are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and Saturday noon-4 p.m. Share your pioneer heritage with family and friends.

Miss Emery County Pageant


The Miss Emery Scholarship pageant will be held on July 16 at 7 p.m. at the Emery High Auditorium.
Contestants will compete in swimwear, casual wear, talent, evening gown and interview and onstage questions. Current Miss Emery Tawni Bigelow from Green River will perform as well as local talent. Plan to support the crowning of a new Miss Emery to represent Emery County at activities and also in the Miss Utah competition held in June each year. Contact contestants for tickets and tickets also sold at the door for $5.
