Spartans face off in the annual black and gold game. |
The 2005 Emery Spartan football team held their annual Black and Gold game last Friday night in preparation for the new season that begins this Friday against Grand.
Quarterback Dave Justice was at the helm of both teams as the divided team got their first game type action of the season. Justice got plenty of time to shine in the first half as an option quarterback often does and he looked good on the field. Halfback Josh Eden had a good showing from the backfield and Trevor Thompson and Landon Thomas showed promise at wide receiver. Thompson scored twice on receptions in the game, first from Justice and then from sophomore Dempsey Jeffs.
Emery opens the season with the first of three straight home games this Friday night against Grand High from Moab.
In freshmen/sophomore game the score was 14-6 for the black team. In the varsity the final score was 24-12 for the gold team.
