Savannah Bayles is the 2005 Melon Days Pageant Queen.

The Miss Melon Days Pageant was held in the Green River High School auditorium on Sept. 16. With six contestants competing, a full agenda was planned and the theme for the evening was, “Be A Star” .
Master of Ceremony Royd Hatt began by introducing the contestants for the scholarship pageant. They were: Leah Swalberg, McKenzie Spadafora, Hannah Mitchell, Whitney Bigelow, Abigail Dunham, and Savannah Bayles.
The current Miss Emery County Shala Pitchforth entertained with two songs, “Natural Woman” and “I Dreamed a Dream.”
After the performance by Miss Emery County, the contestants each performed their own talent. Leah Swalberg did a humorous interpretation about an everyday life skill, cooking; McKenzie Spadafora sang “On My Own” from Les Miserables; Hannah Mitchell performed a piano solo entitled “Tribute”; Whitney Bigelow sang “Freedom”; Abigail Dunham performed a dramatic interpretation; and Savannah Bayles sang a song entitled “Popular.”
A tradition with the Miss Melon Days Pageant is for local young men to perform. This year, the Hot Shots, performed a basketball routine in the Globetrotters style.
The contestants came back onstage to answer two impromptu questions. Sammy Arnold, the reigning Miss Melon Days performed a dramatic reading and she was followed by a musical performance by the 2004 Miss Emery County Tawni Bigelow, who sang “There You’ll Be.”
Before the Miss Melon Days contestants competed in the evening gown portion of the evening, Dallyn and Rachel Bayles, husband and wife professional singing team, performed two songs. They were followed by Shawn Bayles, another professional singer, who also performed.
Each contestant was escorted onto the stage during the evening gown competition and was again introduced to the crowd. Following the evening gown, 2004 Melon Days Queen Sammy Arnold crowned the new Miss Melon Days, Savannah Bayles. First attendant was Whitney Bigelow and second attendant was Abigail Dunham.
