Frank Owen Oviatt


Frank Owen Oviatt, 77, passed away Sept. 30, 2005 at his home in Cleveland. He was born Sept. 7, 1928 in Elmo to Wilford F. and Ella Minchey Oviatt. He married Marie Oveson in Cleveland, Feb. 16, 1952.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army where he distinguished himself, earning a purple heart. Frank loved carpentry and camping in the outdoors. He enjoyed playing games and especially enjoyed little league ball games. He was a member of the LDS church. Frank’s greatest joy was in spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; children, Earl (Sandra) Oviatt, Sheldon (Gloria) Oviatt, Shirlee (Von) Bell, Larry Oviatt, and Kirk Oviatt; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Lavon (Lawella) Oviatt; and a sister Rissa Staker. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Venice Cramer and LaRee Vogrinec; and brother Cleland Oviatt.
Services will be held Tues., Oct. 4 in the Cleveland Second Ward LDS chapel. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary, 680 East 100 South, Price, and one hour prior to services. Interment to follow in the Cleveland cemetery.

Leonda Hanson


PRICE-Leonda Wyman Hanson Carpenter, age 91, passed away Sept. 28, 2005 at the Uintah Basin Care Center. Born Feb. 9, 1914 in Santaquin to Charles and Mary Powers Wyman. Married Joseph Leon Hanson, August 1928 in Price; he died on Sept. 1, 1961. Married Lynn Carpenter, he later died.
Survived by her daughter, Betty Joe VanLinden, Michigan; sons, C. Gary (Frances) Hanson, Spring Glen; Robert N. (Lois) Hanson, Vernal; Raymond B. (Glenna) Hanson, Kenilworth; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sons, Jerry Hanson and Bert L. Hanson; husbands, Joseph Leon Hanson, and Lynn Carpenter; and her brothers and sisters.
Graveside service, Sat. Oct. 1, 2005 in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Gilbert Richins


Gilbert Warren “Bert” Richins, 64, passed away Sept. 28, 2005 at his home in Cleveland with his family around him. He was born Sept. 20, 1941 in Murray to Warren Ford and Clare Heiner Richins.
He married Jedie Mae Stevenson, July 11, 1970 in Elko, Nev., and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, July 11, 1978. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He will be greatly missed by his family cats, Moke, Shadow, Sassy and Toby, who gave him so much joy.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jedie Mae: children, Patsy, Ronald, Raymond, (Kris), JoAnn (Randy), Shirley (Ron), Sherry (Tony), and Douglas; grandchildren, Anthony, Jesse, Angelo, Tony Jr., Michael, Amber, (Charlie) and Karleen; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jack and Greg.
Funeral services were held Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Cleveland First Ward Chapel. A viewing was held Sunday evening at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, and one hour prior to services. Burial was in the Cleveland City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation, great care and thoughtfulness to Rocky Mountain Hospice, family and friends who gave to Bert so he could pass away at home.

Linda LeAnne Stoddard Stone


Linda LeAnne Stoddard Stone, age 43, loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother passed away Sept. 30, 2005, after a brave and valiant battle with cancer. LeAnne was born on Oct. 8, 1961 to Bill W. and Louise Stoddard.
LeAnne had a deep faith in God, and was unwavering in her beliefs. The trials in her life were like stepping stones. She climbed each step with grace and dignity. She was an inspiration to those who knew her.
She loved life, she loved to laugh and make other people laugh, she had a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone in need. She was a true friend, and thankful for anything anyone did for her. She was a talented artist and singer. She worked as a secretary, book keeper and weighmaster for CW Mining for more than 30 years. She was very efficient and a great asset to the company. She especially treasured the time she spent with her family. She was the proud mother of six children; Mikel, Amber, Maryanne, Jewel, Charles, James and one grandson Joseph.
She is survived by her children and grandchild, her parents Bill and Louise; brothers, Scott (Cindy), Jim (Dayna), Shain (Monique), Freddy (Shirley); sisters, Dorthy, Angi (Cyril), Carri, and Jinger. Preceded in death by infant brother Jesse, sister Janie, and grandmother Lavenda.
A special thanks to Hospice, their nurses and caregivers for all the love, care and devotion they gave to LeAnne and her family.
Funeral services will be held Wed., Oct. 5 at the Lake Hills Mortuary 10055 South, State Street, Sandy at 10 a.m.. Friends and family may call Tues. from 6-8 p.m. and 8:45-9:45 a.m. on Wednesday. Internment will be at Bountiful Memorial Park, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful.

Mary Katsavrias


PRICE-Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and devoted friend, Mary Kournianos Katsavrias, age 86, passed from this world on Sept. 29, 2005, while in the Parkdale Care Center in Price.
She was born in Mohrland to Emmanuel Kournianakis and Despina Spadithakis on Nov. 10, 1918. She married Nick Katsavrias on Sept. 5, 1937 in Price; he died Jan. 16, 1978.
Mary was an active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and held various positions in the Cretan Club, Daughters of Penelope and Philoptochos. She was a faithful volunteer who gave countless hours towards the Greek Festival and other church services. She enjoyed helping widows and shut-ins who had difficulty getting around and caring for many ladies in the area who didn’t drive. During her retirement years she enjoyed cooking, baking and caring for her flower and vegetable garden. She looked forward to holidays and spending them with family. Mary was held in high esteem by all who knew her and she was considered an honorary grandmother by many children in the community.
She is survived by her daughter, Bessie (Steve) Grillos, Modesto, Calif. Gust (Sharon) Katsavrias, Price; grandchildren, Pete Pappas, Modesto, Calif; Mike Pappas, Reno, Nev; Holly Fakklis, Stockton, Calif; Stephanie Giahos, Modesto, Calif; Billie Papasifakis, Troy, Mich; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was the second born of seven children that include Antonette Salevurakis, Tony (Catherine) Kournianos, both of Salt Lake City; and sister-in-law, Mary Kourianos, Price. Preceded in death by sisters, Helen Manousakis, Angelina Pace; brother, Emanuel (Mike); infant brother, Michael; and son-in-law Pete Pappas.
Funeral service held on Mon. Oct. 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service was held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s prior to the services on Sunday and Monday. Interment was in the Price City Cemetery.
