Dorothy Epperson Rayburn
Dorothy Epperson Rayburn passed away at 81 years of age Oct. 4, 2005. Dorothy was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Nov. 9, 1923 to father Thomas Earl, mother Amy Jackson and sister Ellen Epperson.
Dorothy had nine children: Tom, Robert, Jack, Mike, Ken, Peggy, Joe, Linda and Pamela.
Dorothy raised all children as a single mother and subsequently took major parental responsibility in the lives of all her 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was an active member of the Castle Valley Senior Citizen Center, where she traveled and played with their band. Dorothy received honorary mention and awards in recognition for her years of voluntary service. Her hobbies included embroidery and needle work.
Dorothy’s life was spent in devotion to her family. She has lived all over the western United Sates in Utah, California, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Nevada. Dorothy selflessly strived to live close to and give support for all her children and grandchildren. They wish to express their love and appreciation of a treasured mother and grandmother, Dorothy Rayburn.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Ellen; her eight other children; and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her son Ken, her grandson Adam Lutu and her granddaughter Lyndsey.
Graveside services were held on Fri., Oct. 7 at the West Jordan City cemetery.
Ang Sanchez
EAST CARBON-Angela Sanchez, age 64, passed away Oct. 5, 2005 at Castleview Hospital in Price. She was born May 31, 1941 in Gallup N.M. to Eugene V. and Paula Hernandez Sanchez. Member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Longtime resident of East Carbon where she owned and operated “Ang’s Sunny Bowl” for many years.
Ang loved bowling, traveling to tournaments, and spending time with her family and a community of friends.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Gilbert (Pauline) Sanchez, Salem; Veronica (Ramon) Santos, Maddera, Calif.; Linda (George) Mitchell, Price; Tim (Diane) Sanchez, Sunnyside; Jacob (Barbara) Compos, New Mexico; Gerald Sanchez, Dinosaur, Colo.; Marcia (Frank) Olivares, Maddera, Calif.; Gina Sanchez, Plymouth, Calif.; Pearl Lopez, Grand Junction, Colo.; and George (Mary) Sanchez, West Jordan. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eloy Sanchez; and longtime friends, Vivian and Bob Seitz.
Funeral mass was held Mon. Oct. 10, 2005 at 10 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. Vigil service was held at 9:30 a.m. at the church in East Carbon. Under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Jack R. Brown
PRICE-Jack R. Brown, age 78, passed away Oct. 5, 2005 at his home in Price. He was born April 24, 1927 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Everett and Gladys D. Osborn Brown. Married Eleanor Chiono, later divorced.
He served in the US Navy and was a life member of the VFW Miner’s Post #2379. In his early years, Jack started various small businesses and later retired as a teamster truck driver. He had a great love for family and friends, and he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. Jack loved bowling, playing shuffleboard, darts and was part of a square dancing group.
Survived by his wife and constant companion, Susan Brown, Price; Jack’s two children, Steve (Kathryn) Brown, Antioch, Calif.; Susan Noleroth, Price; grandchildren, Jesse Noleroth, and Bryan Brown; great-grandchildren, Todd, Tyler, Kobi, and Jaci; stepdaughter, Peggy Brown, Price; step-grandchildren, Tia and Austin; sister, Beverly Brown, San Francisco. Preceded in death by parents, daughter, Karen Brown; and two brothers, Bob and Bill Brown.
Memorial service was held Sat. Oct. 8, 2005 at 10 a .m. in the VFW Miners Post Lodge.
Tony Kokal
SPRING GLEN-Tony Kokal III, age 56, was finally freed from his 27 year battle of multiple sclerosis on Oct. 4, 2005. He was a warrior to the end, never giving up and making the best of every situation. A man of true valor.
He was born Oct. 13, 1948 in Standardville to Antone (Tony) and Flora Jean Kerbovich Kokal. Member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Graduate of Carbon High and the College of Eastern Utah. Served in the US Air Force. Tony had a true love for guitar playing and a gifted talent of writing songs, “Angels Paradise”, and was a member of the Argon Band.
He was always found in front of his computer playing poker, solitaire and emailing friends. He loved sports, playing baseball throughout school and watching games on TV. His greatest companions were his dogs, Brutis and Tahnee.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Rocky Mountain Home Health, and to all of the special people who helped take care of him. A very special thank you to Ron Magann and Olie Olson. Tony could not ask for better friends. His neighbors are some of the best, thank you for being there whenever trouble called.
Survived by his daughter, Suzie (Shane) Spensko, Provo; sons, Tony Kokal IV, Paul Kokal, both of Elk Ridge; mother, Flora Kokal, Spring Glen; sisters, Jeanette (Terry) Marasco, Spring Glen; Helen (Gregg) Larsen, Spring Glen; Kris (Scott) Cox, Mapleton; grandchildren, Lindsey and Steven Spensko, Provo; Victoria and Domanick Kokal, Elk Ridge; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father Tony Kokal and sister Mary Lopan.
Memorial service was held Sat. Oct. 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.
Inas Williams
BECKLEY, W.V./ELMO-Inas Cave Williams, 85, of Beckley, W.V., formerly of Elmo, passed away Sept. 28, 2005 at the home of her daughter following a long illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1919 in Weston, Idaho to the late Orvil F. and Birtie Stone Cave. Married George I. Williams, Feb. 29, 1936 in Price; he died Jan. 25, 1992 after 55 years of marriage.
Inas was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and working in her flower garden.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John Williams, Ferron; daughter, Darlene (Paul) Norris, Beckley, W.V.; sister, Lucille Hopkins, Jackson, Tenn.; brothers, David Cave, Cheyenne, Wyo.; William “Bill” (Olympia) Cave, Wellington; daughters-in-law, JoAnn Williams, Cleveland; Sue Williams, Wellington; 19 grandchildren, 33 grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; sons, Irving F. and Orvil G. Williams; grandsons, Russell, William, Orvil Le Williams; sisters, Mildred, Francis, and Ruth; and brothers Robert, Orvil and James Herbert Cave.
Memorial service will be held Sat. Oct. 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment in the Price City Cemetery.
