Flu Vaccines
Flu shots will be given daily for high risk individuals at Southeastern Utah District Health Department located at 25 West Main in Castle Dale from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Monday mornings from 8:30-11:30- a.m. Beginning Oct. 24, flu vaccine will be given to anyone who requests it during the same time period.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is breast cancer awareness month. So if you are 40 or older, get tested. More than 1,000 Utah women will be diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer this year. Veteran’s Widows and Dependents
A field officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., will be here on Oct. 27 at 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Price Workforce Service Center. He will help assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits.

Breaking the Silence
Breaking the Silence: Children’s Stories is a documentary about the long-lasting devastating effects that domestic violence has on children. It will air on Channel 7, KUED on Oct. 23 at 4:30 p.m.
Food Handlers Classes
There will be food handlers classes for all persons working in food handling establishments. Classes will be taught in Price on Oct. 25, Nov. 29, and Dec. 29, at 9 a.m. and 4 and 7 p.m., in the Southeastern Utah District Health Department, 28 South 100 East, Price. Depression and Bipolar Alliance
A Depression and Bipolar Alliance (DBSA) support group is now forming in Sanpete County. DBSA groups are peer-led, confidential and supportive meetings for those who suffer from depression and bipolar syndrome and their families and friends. Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale

Meeting Changed
Castle Dale City Council meeting has been changed from Oct. 13 to Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Castle Dale City Hall building located 65 East 100 North.
Halloween Party at Castle Dale Senior Center
The Senior Citizen Halloween Party will be held on Oct. 25 at Castle Dale Senior Center at noon. All are encouraged to attend, and come in costume if desired. Along with the party, seniors are encouraged to bring a supply for the Head Start program. Michelle from Head Start will be on hand to accept the donations.
Huntington Elementary Craft Fair
Huntington Elementary will hold its annual craft fair in conjunction with the Pumpkin Walk on Oct. 26 from 1-4 p.m. at the school. Everyone is welcome.
Ferron Burn Season
Ferron City’s controlled burn season is Sept. 23-Oct 24. Stop in at City Hall and fill out a burn permit before you burn. Calling in burn information to City Hall will no longer be acceptable. Individuals who burn without signing a permit many be subject to penalties. Permits can also be printed out form our website, www.ferroncity.org, and the must be signed and returned to City Hall prior to the date of the burn.

A Christmas Festival will be held at the Emery County Recreation Center in Castle Dale on Nov. 4-5. Castle Dale Elementary Workshops
Castle Dale Elementary will be holding workshops for the students to show them that there is better things to do than drugs and violence. They are looking for anybody with talents and ideas to share with the children. The workshops will be on Oct. 28. Cleveland Fall Burn Window
Cleveland Town’s fall burn window will be from Sept. 24-Oct. 23. Cleveland Town requires a burn permit for everyone who plans a controlled burn. To obtain a permit, visit town hall, or call 653-2310, or from Greg Oliver at 653-2809. This includes burning of yard waste. There is no fee for the permit.
Huntington City Open Burn Period
Huntington City’s fall open burn period will be Sept. 24-Oct. 23. Burn permits are required and can be picked up a city hall. All burning must be done from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Cost to extinguish fires and fines may be imposed. October will be the last limb pick up, do not put any limbs on the street after Oct. 9.

Tip Line for Drug Violations
A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.
AWANA Club

CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Angels Have Wheels
All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they maybe eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. Eyeglasses for Lions Club
