ORANGEVILLE- Herman Wolfgang Pollaehne, age 74, passed away Nov. 6, 2005 in a Springville nursing home where he has spent the last four and a half years. He was born in Berlin, Germany March 26, 1931 where he spent many hair-raising experiences during WWII. He sailed out of Hamburg, Germany as a young member of the German Merchant Marine and traveled the seven seas.
In September of 1955 he immigrated to America. While crossing the Atlantic on a passenger boat, he met his future wife Ruth. They were married in October of 1956. He was drafted in the US Army and served in the Army Corps of Engineers spending most of his time near Stuttgart, Germany.
Herm and Ruth have two children: a son Andy who teaches science at Canyon View Junior High School and has four boys; Matthew, Nathan, Cannon, and Tanner. Their daughter DoraLynne lives in the Portland, Ore. area with her husband Don LaMunyon. They have three boys and a girl; Stephen, Alex, Krista and Thomas.
After Herm’s army time, he and Ruth settled in Salt Lake City and became active in the LDS Church. Herm became a factory trained auto mechanic. After a few years he opened his own shop which he called “Herm’s Car Repair.”
After a fire destroyed the shop in the 70s, they moved to Orangeville to start over. Orangeville became their home. Herm became sick in 1994 and in 2001 he entered the nursing home.
He is preceded in death by two younger brothers, Horst and Jerry Pollaehne.
Funeral services were held Thurs. Nov. 10, 2005 in the Orangeville Third Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing was held one hour prior to services. Burial was in the Orangeville Cemetery with military honors, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Lance “Geebs” Sandstrom


WELLINGTON- Lance G. Sandstrom, age 22, passed away Nov. 10, 2005 from injuries received in an auto accident.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1983 in Gunnison, to Leon G. and Clarice Mortensen Sandstrom. Lance loved fishing, hunting, going to the mountains and “hanging out with his friends.
He is survived by his mother, Clarice Sandstrom, Wellington, brother, Andrew W. Sandstrom, Fargo, N.D.; two nephews, one niece and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Preceded in death by his father, sister, Kristina; and his grandparents.
Funeral service, Tues. Nov. 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. in Wellington Fourth LDS Ward Chapel, 50 North 100 East, Wellington. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Family will be at the church Tuesday, one hour prior to service. Interment, Cleveland City Cemetery.
