The Castle Dale city council recently broke ground for an indoor arena at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. The building will be 175 x 275 feet, with an arena floor of 275 x 138 feet. The indoor arena will be big enough for full pattern barrel racing. The building will be multi-purpose and open for public use. The arena will have sky lights/clear wall panels for power conservation. The arena will include bathrooms and a concession stand. Seating capacity will be 540 people. The seating area will be heated. Sound and lights will also be included in the building. Roping boxes and calf chutes will be included. Two bucking chutes will be installed. All of the intake air will be through swamp coolers.
This Castle Dale City Project has been made possible with a Community Impact Board grant for $355,000 and also a $355,000 interest free loan. Castle Dale City is happy to be able to fund this project without raising taxes. Castle Dale City will provide labor for bathrooms, office, dirt work and the concession stand. Local certified electricians will be donating their time on the building. Engineering is being done by Johansen and Tuttle with the concrete work being done by Ernest Jensen Construction. The building will be erected by Stilson Construction with the steel rebar being supplied by Magnuson Lumber. The Castle Dale City Council said a number of people helped design the project and they appreciate their hard work and involvement: Danny Whiteleather, Joel Dorsch, Derri Jewkes, Jason Branson, Ken Kofford, Eldon Whittle and Bevan Wilson.
The arena is projected to be complete by the end of June if things progress on schedule.
