December Castle Dale City Council meeting

Technology helps in everyday life and Castle Dale City is thinking about using technology to aid in animal control. There are many animals that are brought to Emery Animal Health that cannot be identified. Often times their tags have become misplaced so there is no way to find where they belong. Dr. Glen Jensen believes that placing a microchip inside animal’s ears will reduce the number of animals that have to be put to sleep. It is a fairly simple procedure that is done. Developed by a veterinarian, the AVIDR microchip is safe, permanent and takes only seconds to administer.
The tiny injectable “chip” contains a one-of-a-kind identification number and is recognized worldwide. The city council thought it would be a good idea and it may be seen in the future here in Castle Dale. For more information contact Dr. Jensen or Jack Rogers.
Other items talked about in city council:It was council member Kollette Cologie’s birthday and all who were in attendance at the meeting sang happy birthday and were treated to cake. Mark H. Williams questioned the city council about holding ATV safety classes in the soon to be built indoor arena during the winter season. The city council approved his request. He also proposed some new ATV routes.There was some discussion and there will be a follow up in the future. No decision was made.
Brad Giles presented an ordinance establishing use and vending requirements on city streets, sidewalks and property by local vendors, citizens and retailers. The ordinance states that advertisements cannot be placed on public property. There will be a public hearing in the future.
Scott Burgess presented a business plan. It is a small pet shop that will carry animals such as rats, birds and products to care for them.
It was acknowledged that the Castle Dale Fire Department received a new fire truck.
Dorsch proposed that 10-20 horse stalls be placed at the rodeo grounds. The other council members liked the idea.
The new meetings for the year of 2006 will be held on the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m.
