Lee Ronald Pettey
Lee R. Pettey of Phoenix, Ariz., died Dec. 31, 2005 of acute leukemia. Lee was born in Hiawatha on June 24, 1925 and lived most of his life in Utah.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was an educator for 33 years as a teacher, coach and administrator.
Lee was preceded in death by his father Lloyd, mother Clara Rowley, brothers Harold, Lloyd Jr., James, and Ken, sister Donna Whimpey and son Jacque. He is survived in death by wife Afton, children Scott and Chris Pettey and Leanne Stanfill, sister Margaret Griffiths, grandchildren Michael and C J Stanfill, Janessa Rice and Derek Pettey, and great-grandson Virgil Rice.
Lee was respected and loved by all who knew him and touched the lives of many students. Services were held on Fri. Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the Milford, Utah LDS church. Visitation was from 9-10:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment followed services in the Milford cemetery.

Nancy Harvey
MOORE, IDAHO/EAST CARBON- Nancy Louise Anderson Harvey, age 71, passed away Jan. 1, 2006 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was born June 1, 1934 in Lewistown, Mo. to Chester and Freda Campen Anderson. Married Jack Darwin Harvey, Oct. 7, 1950 in Elko, Nev.; he died Dec. 5, 1995.
Nancy was a former resident of Columbia prior to moving to Moore, Idaho where she enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. She enjoys making crafts of all sorts, fishing, hunting, gardening and caring for her beautiful lilacs. Nancy will be dearly missed by her family and many longtime friends.
Survived by her daughters, Cynthia Harvey-Carrasco (Frank), Henderson, Nev.; Sandra (Ray) Hagewood, Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Mary (James) Fivecoat, Sunnyside; Marie Fivecoat, San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren, Mandy, Douglas, Jack; five greatgrandchildren, Brady, Carlie, Callie, Summett, Cyree; and many loving nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents, son, Jack Harvey Jr., and infant daughter, Heather.
Funeral services were held Sat, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Gordon Parker
PRICE-Gordon Parker, age 88, passed away peacefully Jan. 7, 2006 in Salt Lake City. He was born on Oct. 25, 1917 in Hooper, Utah to Charles G. and Della Fowers Parker. Married his soul mate Kathy Xiaras, on June 8, 1996 in Elko, Nev.
Gordon graduated from the University of Washington where he received his degree in journalism and served as President of Sigma Delta Chi. He served his country in the US Army Field Artillery and was later commissioned as a Captain of the Tank Destroyer where he was honorably discharged. Longtime resident of Carbon County where he was co-owner and operator of the Carbon Grocery Co. Gordon was elected as the first mayor of East Carbon City in 1973. He served as baliff for the Seventh District Court in Carbon County, public relations officer for the Wasthington State Liquor Control Commission in Olympia, Wash., President of the East Carbon Rotary Club, Chairman of the Carbon County Historical Society, Chairman of the Carbon County Democratic party, and Chairman of the Western association of Land Users. Gordon also served on the Board of Directors of the former Carbon Nursing Home, Board of Directors of the Carbon County Housing Authority, the Eastern Utah Racing Association and from 1967-1969, and on the Utah State Liquor Control Commission.
He was a member of the American Legion Post#137 and Price Elk’s Lodge #1550. Survived by his loving wife, Kathy Parker, Price; daughter, Marcia Parker, Georgia; stepchildren, Bobby Jones, Price; Meagan (David) Doporto, Rock Springs, Wyo; brother, Claude Z. Parker, Reston, Va.; four grandchildren, Jordan and Kaitlyn Jones, Kaelah and Morgan Doporto. Preceded in death by his parents, son, Jim; two brothers and six sisters.
Funeral service, Wed. Jan. 11, 2006, 11 a.m. , Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Dwight Lee Killpack
FERRON- Dwight Lee Killpack, 75 left this earth on Fri., Jan. 6, 2006 at his home in Ferron, after a 16 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. All his family were around him in his home when he passed just as he would want it. Dwight was born Dec. 7, 1930 to Llewellyn (LW) and Eva Irene Williams Killpack. He was the youngest of eight brothers.
Dwight loved the mountains and being with his kids, his brothers, his nephews and nieces and grandchildren. His ability to teach without saying a word was incredible and his example spoke volumes. He was a loving husband and a caring father. He married Maude Marie Snow on May 8, 1950. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on July 27, 1963. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions, including bishopric member.
He is survived by his wife; children, Parke Lee (Toni) Killpack of Ferron, Bevan Dwight (Becky) Killpack of St. George, Kollynne Behling of Louisville, Ky., Kollette (Mike) Cologie of Castle Dale, and Kyle Ladd (Jean) Killpack of Parker, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Ben Killpack of Castle Dale. Preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a grandson, Brody.
Dwight was known for his ability to fix or make anything with his hands. His patience was his greatest gift. He taught his children to be responsible and dependable; he adored his wife and daughters and was very proud of his sons. He gave community and church service selflessly. His sense of humor never fainted even in his final days. His pain is gone and his progress is eternal. We will be with him again.
Funeral services will be at the Millsite Ward LDS chapel in Ferron, Wed., Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to call on Tues., Jan. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services at the chapel. The family would like to express their appreciation to Rocky Mountain Health and Hospice and to all of Dwight’s friends who helped in the last while.
“Olie” Lawrence C. Olson
WELLINGTON- Lawrence Charles Olson, age 80, passed away peacefully Jan. 4, 2006 in Provo.
Born June 22, 1925 in Columbia to Martin Lawrence and Violet Stevenson Olson.
Married Helen Kuretitch, later divorced. Married Yvonna Gibson, Nov. 22, 1972 in Wendover.
Olie was a member of the LDS Church and a lifelong resident of Carbon County. He worked in various coal mines throughout the county for 50 years and was a 60 year member of the U.M.W.A. Local #9958. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific. Olie was a member of the VFW Miners Post #2379, the Price American Legion Post #3, as well as the Spring Glen Slovenian Home. Olie will be dearly missed by his loving family and a community of friends.
Survived by his wife, Yvonna R. Olson, Wellington; son, Brent (Judie) Olson; two daughters, Tammy (Dave) Hoffman, Tonya Gilson, all of Price; step daughter, Paula (Fred) Ray, Loma, Colo.; step sons, Dean (Pam) Simpson, Hayden, Colo.; Buddy (Carla) Simpson, East Carbon; brothers-in-law, Mose and Johnny Gibson, Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, step-daughter, Karen Shepherd; and step-grandson, Dirk Bierschied.
Funeral service was held Mon., Jan. 9 at 12 noon, Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.
Richard Sejkora
Richard John Sejkora, 58, passed away on Dec. 21, 2005. He was born Nov. 14, 1947 in Lewellen, Neb., the son of Jerry and Martha (Andel) Sejkora. Richard loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed his kids and friends. He will be truly missed.
Richard is survived by his children, Roxann-35, BJ-33, Tommy-25, Richard Jr.-22, and Tina-20. Also survived by his first wife, Theresa, and his second wife, Mary; his mother, Martha, and four brothers and a sister.
In lieu of services, friends attended a wake on Tues, Dec. 27, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. at Mary’s home, 45 North Main in Orangeville.
Deone O. Bishop
PRICE/PROVO- Deone Oviatt Bishop, age 70, passed away peacefully Jan. 3, 2006 after a long illness.
She was born June 29, 1935 in Elmo, the daughter of Bert Venoy and Eliza Martha Jensen Oviatt, the youngest of five sisters. She married Bob D. Bishop on Dec. 8, 1952 in Cleveland, later divorced.
Deone was an active member of the LDS church and even up to her last days continued to read and study about the gospel.
She worked as an accountant/bookkeeper in many of the banks in the Price area and also at Plateau Mining. Her co-workers thought very highly of her and her ability to work quickly and efficiently in all that she was asked to do. As in her working surroundings, her family held great respect for her and her modesty.
Deone struggled through many of life’s trials but never gave up and instilled that into her children and others around her. Deone’s door was always open to anyone and she always wanted to help others.
Mom was always there no matter what time of day or what you needed, whether is was just a good friend to talk to or help balance a checkbook, a warm meal and a roof over your head or just her keen sense of humor and wit, mom had a heart full of love and it will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Greg (Stacey) Bishop, Price; Nanette of Payson; Jeff (Rosetta) Bishop, Price; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; also survived by three sisters, Edith Stagg, Floye Bennion both of Vernal, Wilma Baker, Orem. Preceded in death by parents and sister LaRue White.
Funeral Services were held, Sat., Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 East 100 South, Price.
