Genevieve Cormani
HELPER- Genevieve Lopez Cormani, age 87, passed away Feb. 8, 2006 in West Jordan.
She was born Aug. 15, 1918 in Monroe to Charles and Irene Julander Lopez.
Married Luke Cormani, Jan. 8, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev. He passed away March 3, 1985.
Longtime resident of Helper. Genevieve loved her pet cats, enjoyed baking and spending her free time bowling. She was a loving mother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survived by her daughter, Wilene (Ron) Lowther, Salt Lake City; sister, Barbara Marvidikis, Helper; nieces and nephew, Athena, Stephanie, Sabrina, McRay.
Graveside service, was held Fri. Feb. 10 at noon, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Family was at Mitchell’s one hour prior to services.
Tony Tonc
“Gone to Wendover”
HELPER- “Our Tony”, Anton Joseph Tonc, age 79, passed away Feb. 8, 2006, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Helper to Anton Joseph and Matilda Tercek Sluda Tonc on March 9, 1926.
He lived his entire life in Helper, graduated from Carbon High School and entered the service during World War II serving as a sergeant in both the European and Pacific Theatre of Operations. Upon returning from the service he met and married Edith Brackett on Sept. 19, 1947. They raised two wonderful sons, Anton J. Tonc and Vincent F. Tonc. His family was his most important possession and he always put them first.
Tony started working at Standardville mine, and then worked for the U.S. Postal service for 43 years. He had the distinction of only missing and using two days of sick leave in all of those years. Member of the Elks Lodge #1550, WSA Fraternal Union, American Legion, and was a dedicated volunteer for Helper City Fire for many years. He was a hard worker and a caring person who was always ready and eager to help others. He spent many years playing baseball and enjoyed coaching boys in basketball, football and baseball. Tony enjoyed his polka, waltz and he loved to dance with his wife.
He took great pride in the way he cared for and irrigated his yard and garden and shared his lettuce and tomatoes with many friends and family.
Survived by his wife, Edith; sons, Anton Tonc, Vincent (Sheila) Tonc; five grandchildren, Tony, Nick, Aaron, Adrea, Shannon; and three great- grandchildren; sister, Pauline (Martin) Ahlin; brother, Louie (Madeline) Tonc; sisters-in-law, Katie Ori, Netta Burton, Freda Bianco; many loving nephews, nieces and their families and a community of loyal Helper friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, dear daughter-in-law, Susan Tonc; granddaughter, Brandi Leigh Tonc; brother, George Sluga; sisters, Matilda Yelenich, Ann Lipich, Helen Costello and Julia Zorn.
Funeral Mass, was held Sat. Feb. 11, 10 a.m., St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Vigil service held at 9:30 a.m. at the church in Helper. Those wishing to visit with the family were welcomed at 8:45 a.m. at the church. Friends were welcomed at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper or to a charity of your choice.
Joshua Thomas Lester
PRICE-Joshua Thomas Lester, 5 months old, passed away Feb. 6, 2006, at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He was born Aug. 21, 2005, in American Fork to Daniel Tyrrell and Mandy Kay Lester.
Joshua loved to play peek-a-boo with his brothers and sister. He liked to hear his mommy sing to him. Listening to music helped him feel good.
Survived by his parents, brothers, Daniel Cameron Lester, Joseph Tyler Lester, sister, Amanda Lynn Lester, all of Price; grandparents Daniel Anderson Lester of Huntington, Lynn Reidhead of Heber, Ariz., George and Joyce Peterson of Hanksville.
Funeral service was held Fri., Feb. 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Price First Ward LDS Chapel, 150 South 500 East, Price. A viewing was held one hour prior to service at the church. Burial was in the Cliffview Cemetery in Price under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Rose Ann Lantz
PRICE-Rose Anna Zetty Lantz, age 65, passed away Feb. 10. 2006 in Price. She was born April 2, 1940 in Elkins, W.V. to George and Anna Mae Johnson Zetty. Married James H. Lantz Oct. 11, 1958 in Galloway, W.V.
Rose Ann enjoyed sewing, quilting, bowling, camping and fishing with her family, and traveling to Arizona. She loved making her potato candy for her family during the holidays. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, James Lantz Sr., Price; twin daughters, Felicia (Mike) Nelson, Golden Valley, Ariz., and Patricia (Brent) Howell, Helper; son, Jim (Jodi) Lantz, Price; brother, Lloyd (Nancy) Zetty, Volga, W.V.; eight grandchildren, Denelle and Kayla Nelson, J.D. (Chrissy) Nelson, all of Flagstaff, Ariz., Brittney, B.J., and Levi Howell, Helper, Dakota and DesiRae Lantz, Price; great-granddaughter, Carly Nelson, Flagstaff, Ariz.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside service, Wed. Feb. 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Cliffview Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell’s Funeral Home Wednesday one hour prior to graveside.
Irene Pritchett
EAST CARBON-Irene Clark Pritchett, age 70, passed away Feb. 6, 2006 at her home. She was born April 19, 1935 in Shady Point, Okla. to Herman and Hazel Crumpton Clark. Married James Alford, divorced. Married Jack Pritchett, later divorced.
Irene was a resident of East Carbon since 1977 where she worked for Kaiser Steel and Horse Canyon coal mines. She was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America District #22. She loved flowers, bingo, bowling, story telling and big trucks, especially Peterbilts.
Irene enjoyed boating, fishing, spending time in Lake Powell, and Utah’s beautiful blue skies. She loved traveling and dining out.
Survived by her daughter, Deborah Lozano, East Carbon; granddaughter, Kimberly (Pete) Castglione, Florida; three great-grandchildren Jessika, Amanda and Meagan; sister, Melba Benson, Salt Lake; brother, Earl Clark, East Carbon; sister, Fay (Paul) Mager, Price; brother, Frank (Pat) Modes, Price; sister-in-law, Elnora Clark, East Carbon; and many special nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Hazel and Alvin Parsons; brother, Willard R, Clark; nephews, Robert Blackburn, Randy McManus Jr., Tony Modes, and David Espinoza.
Funeral service was held Feb. 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
