Seniors of the Week: Bert and Thelma Jensen

Bert and Thelma Jensen were both raised in Emery County. Bert was born in Castle Dale to Allies and Mima Jensen on April 29, 1928.
Thelma was born in Cleveland to Ernest and Nellie Jensen on June 27, 1933. They met in the fall of 1946 and were married in Cleveland on June 30, 1951. They lived in Castle Dale for 10 years and then moved to Craig, Colo., where they worked on a ranch for a year. They then moved back to Emery County and settled in Ferron in 1960. Bert worked for Singletons, was a custodian for the church and for Ferron Elementary and most recently worked for the Emery County Road Department. Thelma managed a day care for children in her house for 43 years. Bert and Thelma have three children.
Sidney Joe was born on Feb. 4, 1954 in Price. He met JoAnn Mangum Peay and was married in Las Vegas on June 6, 1990. JoAnn has four children, Marc, JoDee, Kevin and Jason. Sid worked for Wards doing body and fender repairs on vehicles. JoAnn is a nurse. They now have six grandchildren, three boys and three girls.
Sheree was born in Price on Oct. 9, 1953. She served a healthy mission for the church in the Philippines for nine months and came home to have knee surgery. She then finished her mission sharing the gospel in Baton Rouge, La. She met and married Robert Pollitz on Nov. 2, 1985 in Ferron. Robert has two children, Ryan and Michelle and together they have BJ and Stephanie and an adopted daughter, Sarah. Robert and Sheree live in Salt Lake where Sheree is employed as a nurse and Robert as a steel inspector. They currently have one granddaughter.
Adele was born on Oct. 2, 1962 in Price in Price. She married Lane Justice in the Manti Temple on Aug. 8, 1980. They were blessed with three children, Kerstine, Tyrell and Brett, who died shortly after his birth. Lane and Adele took in foster children and adopted eight of these children, JB, Mike, Dusty, Andreya, Krystal, Kameron, Logan and Trevor. Adele works as the treasurer for Ferron City and Lane is employed at San Rafael Junior High. They have one granddaughter and live in Ferron.
Bert and Thelma have enjoyed a mission for the church to Cove Fort. The greatest thrill for them was to meet President and Sister Hinkley while they were serving at the Fort. They also served a mission at the Castle Dale Cannery. They enjoy retirement, Bert working with wood and Thelma working on plastic canvas. They are proud to have 22 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
