Cathie Samples Stiffler
HUNTINGTON-Cathie Lee Bailey Samples Stiffler, age 78, passed away March 30, 2006 in Price. She was born Feb. 16, 1928 in Shady Point, Okla. to John Henry and Mentie Bell Hardin Bailey.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Longtime resident of Huntington where she was a member of the Huntington Lions Club and a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #2379. She enjoyed singing at the nursing homes in the area and participating at other functions with the Country Rovers.
Cathie was a very kind and loving person who donated many hours in the community with the Emery County Food Bank and the Lions Club. She loved crocheting, fishing, and caring for all types of animals.
Survived by her brother, Calvin Bailey, Palmero, Calif.; god children, Brittany and Colton Walls; and her special families, The Walls and the Bosleys; and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held Wed. April 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Huntington First LDS Ward Chapel. Family will be at the church one hour prior to services. Friends are welcome at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price daily. Interment in the Huntington City Cemetery.
Katherine Olsen
SPRING GLEN-Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, Katherine Andreen Olsen, age 62, passed away March 27, 2006 at her home after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1944 in Standardville to John and Mildred Monsen Andreen. Married Wayne Verl Olsen May 12, 1962 in Price.
Katherine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She loved the outdoors, riding four-wheelers and spending time with her family at the cabin. She enjoyed camping and traveling to Yuma, Ariz. for the winter.
Katherine’s warmth and smile brought great joy to those around her and she was the glue in the family that kept everyone together.
She is survived by loving husband, Wayne Olsen, Spring Glen; daughter, Trisha (Boyd) Anderson, Price; son, Mark Olsen, Helper; brother, Calvin (Barbara) Andreen, Price; brothers-in-law, Doug (Mary) Olsen, Wellington; Fred (Kathy) Olsen, Salt Lake City; sisters-in-law, Ronda Manzanares, Price; Dawn (James) Stowe, Steamboat Springs, Colo; five grandchildren, Tasha (Joey), Cody, Tanner, Teonna, Madison; and great-grandson, Brennen. She was preceded in death by parents, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held on Fri., March 31, 1 p.m. Carbonville LDS Ward Chapel, located at the old Spring Glen LDS Ward, 4000 North 1900 West. Family was at Mitchell’s funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Interment was in the Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Lynda Jane Compagni
WELLINGTON- The light of our world has gone out. Our beautiful wife and mother, Lynda Jane Durrant Compagni, age 54, passed away March 31, 2006 in Price while surrounded by her adoring family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Mom was born Sept. 11, 1951 in Dragerton to Max and Margaret Cooper Durrant. She married the love of her life Charles “Chuck” Compagni, July 26, 1969 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and had been holding hands and saying “I love you” ever since.
After graduating in cosmetology at College of Eastern Utah, mom brought endless beauty to hundreds of people from Salt Lake’s Salon Dante to Price’s Trade Secret. Not only did mom make people look their best, she made them feel their best. She was always upbeat, positive and took on the role of mother, mentor and counselor to anyone who sat in her chair. Her positive impact on the lives she has touched is one of her many legacies.
We will remember our “Nubie” for the important lessons she has taught us; “never give up or give in,” “always stand up for yourself,” “never be afraid to speak your mind,” “laugh often,” and “love each other.”
Mom always put family first. She was the loudest cheerleader at football games, the first to clap at opera concerts and always greeted dad with a look of adoration and a kiss. Even her recent battle with cancer did not stop her from traveling to see her sons first Italian restaurant, or sit through a concert to hear her daughter sing an aria.
The greatest joy of moms life has been Vito Corleone, her two year old Bichon. He was her protector and pal and always had plenty of kisses for her. He never left her side.
Mom was essence of the power of positive thinking. She amazed family and friends and the great medical team that cared for her. She never lost her humor or her wit, her favorite line being, “I’ve got cancer, I’m not deaf!” Her ability to bring light to any situation will be greatly missed.
Mom loved the smell of rain, pine trees, camping, fishing, irises, daffodils, the ocean and she loved her family “Big As The Sky!”
“Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.”
She was survived by her husband, Charles Compagni, Wellington; one daughter, one son and their spouses, Tarasina Compagni (Rik Vasquez), Grand Junction, Colo.; Charles Anthony (Celisse) Compagni, Norman, Okla; brother, Ted (Shirley) Durrant, Buchannon, Va.; her protector and pal, Vito Corleone Compagni; also survived by her father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Max and Margaret Durrant; brother, Terry Max Durrant; nephew, Cooper Durrant; mother -in-law, Della Compagni; brothers-in-law, Mike Smyth, Chico Compagni; dear friend, Dan James.
Funeral Mass, Thurs., April 6, 10 a.m., Notre Dame De Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Wednesday evening 7 p.m. at the church. Family will be at Notre Dame Church Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. Under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
