Loretta Thayn
PRICE- Loretta (Sutherland) Thayn, 71, passed away on April 22, 2006 in Price. She was born on Nov. 15, 1934 in Wallsburg to George and Grace Sutherland. In 1951, she married Alonzo (Lon) Thayn. They lived together most of their lives in Wellington on their farm. She was known for her strong spirit, and many will miss her.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Alonzo (Lon) Thayn; her seven children, Judy (David) Sanderson, Gloria (Sheldon) Oviatt, Darlene Harvel, Scott (Mary) Thayn, Clark Thayn, Valorie (Jason) Marietti, and Lon (Julie) Thayn; 16 grandsons, five granddaughters, nine great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. Also survived by five brothers, Lamar (Harla) Sutherland, Ronald (Chris) Sutherland, Delbert (Kay) Sutherland and Ernie (Lorraine) Sutherland, all of Salt Lake, and Ray (Darlene) Sutherland of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and one sister Linda (Danny) Schindler, of Salt Lake. Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Sanderson, and a brother, Ralph Sutherland.
Memorial services were held on April 27 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price. Friends were welcomed to visit with the family the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary. A luncheon was provided at the stake center at 935 East Main Street in Wellington, following services.
Jack Abrams
PRICE- Curtis Jack Abrams, age 81, passed away April 30, 2006, while surrounded by his family at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.
He was born Sept. 10, 1924 in Murray, Utah to Curtis Barton and Addie Mae Oman Abrams.
Married Lois Axelsen, Sept. 3, 1945 in Elko, Nev.; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on Nov. 11, 1977.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jack honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He drove truck a number of years for Wasatch Electric and Line Construction and later retired from Western Coal Carriers. He loved working on his model cars and trains, boating and making sure that his vehicles always looked their best. Jack’s smile, warmth and friendship will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Abrams, Price; son, Brett (Jana) Abrams, Wellington; daughters, Lynn Kenney, Price; Jackie Ungerman, Huntington; brother Howard Abrams, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Kelli Wright, Shera (Will) Gleave, Lee Abrams, Denise (Gus) Childs, Pam Abrams, Shawn Davis, Lyndie (Casey) Miller, Alicia, Alaina and Brittany Ungerman; and seven loving great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Claude and Paul Abrams; and grandson, Joe Abrams.
Funeral service, Tues., May 2 at 1 p.m., Price North LDS Stake Center, located at 400 North 100 East. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the Stake Center Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Verna Morrison
PRICE- Verna Inez Morrison, age 81, passed away April 30, 2006 at the Parkdale Care Center in Price.
She was born June 7, 1924 in Kansas City, Mo. to Vernon and Ida Minnie Sampe Brott.
Married Charles “Chuck” E. Morrison, Feb. 14, 1948 in Fruita, Colo., he died Sept. 20, 1999.
Member of the Price Chapel-Christian Missionary Alliance. Verna was a member of Jobs Daughters, P.E.O. and organist at the Price Methodist Church for many years. She worked for Avon and Cablevision in Price. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and keeping score for the little league. She will be dearly missed by her family and many longtime friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Parkdale Care Center and Rocky Mt. Hospice.
Survived by her two sons and one daughter, Bruce (Christine) Morrison, Springville; Wayne A. Morrison, Price; Judy (Rick) Machalek, Vestal, NY; sisters, Sylvia Birch, Roundup, Mont.; Dot Boksa, Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Tracie L. Morrison; Michael B. Morrison; Cheryl N. Sharpe, all of S.L.C.; Lisa K. Debois, Tooele; Skylar J. Spainhower, Springville; Randy V. Spainhower, Magna; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service, Wed., May 3, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening 7-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Kantz Coulson Rich
Our precious angel Kantz Coulson Rich passed away unexpectedly due to unknown causes, April 26, 2006.
Survived by his parents Chuck and Lexie Taylor Rich of Cleveland, grandparents Bus and Roanna Rich, Steve and Jody Taylor, granddad John and grannie Sue Ratcliff, grandma Janet Taylor, aunts Holly and Chris and uncle Michael. Preceded in death by grandma Jeanine Rich, grandma Shelby Ratcliff, grandma and grandpa Rich, grandma and grandpa Robertson and grandpa Jack Taylor.
Graveside services and burial were held Fri., April 28 at the Cleveland Cemetery.
