Camille Fehlberg participates in the hurdles event.

Camille Fehlberg and Tate Jensen led the Emery High Spartans at the Region 8 track team held last week at Carbon High School. Just as Lehi High School did a couple of years ago, Juan Diego hosted the region track meet at Carbon High because of the superior track and field facility in Price.
The Emery boys finished second behind Juan Diego. Scores were Juan Diego 148 points, Emery 117 points, North Sanpete 104 points, Delta 74 points, Carbon 50 points and Granite 2 points. Jensen won the 400, finished second in the long jump and anchored two relay teams.
The Emery girls finished fourth. Despite recruiting softball players from the just finished season, the Lady Spartans just did not have enough depth to compete against some of the region schools. Delta won the meet with 145 points followed by Juan Diego with 101 points. Third was Carbon with 97 points, Emery had 79 points, North Sanpete 69 points and Granite had 3 points. Fehlberg won the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles, the 400 and anchored the 4X400 relay team. Fehlberg, already a qualifier for State in the long jump, did not compete in that event.
Winning the 300 and the 400 are the hardest races to double up on as they are ran less than 10 minutes apart. The last Emery Spartan to successfully run these two races was Brett Guymon. Guymon went onto a successful college career at Utah State.
Here are official results of the Region meet for all participants that scored points for the Emery teams. The top six finishers in individual events and the top five finishers in relays scored points. To qualify for state, one had to either best a preset time or distance or finish in the top four at region. In relay races, one must finish in the top three at region.
