Nathalia Diane Van Wagoner
Nathalia Diane (Russell) Van Wagoner, 63, passed away on May 14, 2006 in West Jordan. She was born Oct. 21, 1942 in Fillmore, to Harold Russell and Lurine (Lee) Russell Paxton. Delivered along with her twin brother, Dennis, she held a deeply rooted devotion to her family and a strong disposition that some would consider stubborn.
She married Gary Van Wagoner on Nov. 5, 1966. They made their home in Salt Lake City, later moving to Cleveland. Diane possessed a “heart of gold” and would give to others, often before her own needs were met. Her grandkids were her life’s fulfillment and she would hand-make items to give to them.
Diane is survived by her children, Dan of Castle Dale; Terry of Ogden; Jerry and Gary, both of West Valley; and Tammy (Steve) Lyons of West Jordan; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also survived by her brothers, Dennis and Merl and sister, Shirley.
Preceded in death by her husband, Gary; father, Harold; mother, Lurine; stepfather, Albert Paxton; and brother Melvin. Diane was the essence of strength. She held the desire to overcome any obstacle that challenged her. Her complete affection to her family and friends will be dearly missed.
Services were held on May 17 at 11 a.m. at the Cleveland LDS chapel. Friends were invited to call one hour prior to service at the chapel. Interment in the Price City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Earl Joseph Luke
FAIRBANKS, ALASKA-Earl Joseph Luke, age 66, passed away from cancer Wed. May 17, 2006 at his home with his wife and other family members present.
Funeral services will be held on May 27 at 1 p.m. at the First Ward LDS Church in Orangeville, Emery County, Utah. There will be a family viewing from noon until 12:45 p.m. Pallbearers include Jerry Shepherd, Scott Hale, Ben Hansen, Larry Dumas, David Hinkins and Gary Luke. Micheal Luke will serve as honorary pallbearer. Micheal has chosen to respect his grandfather’s wishes and complete his mission. Burial will take place at the Orangeville City Cemetery.
Earl was born on Nov. 19, 1939 in Emery County, Utah. After graduating from Emery County High, he enlisted in the US Navy from 1958 until 1964, He married Ilene Carter on Sept. 22, 1962. He and his wife moved to Fairbanks in August of 1997 because they felt they needed an adventure. He was employed by JL Properties and retired Jan. 1, 2005.
He was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, horses, golfing, pinochle, bowling, and spending time with the grandkids.
The Luke family would like to thank everyone for their help and support throughout this illness. “Your love and kindness won’t be forgotten.”
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Ilene Luke of Fairbanks, Alaska; daughter Lorie Hansen of Elko, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jerry Shepherd of North Pole, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Scott Hale of Fayetteville, N.Y.; grandchildren, Micheal Luke, Ben Hansen, Kiera Shepherd, Carter Hale, and Spencer Hale; brother and sister-in-law, Kean and Charlene Luke, sister and brother-in-law, Elda and Delile Hinkins, all of Orangeville; brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Eunice Luke of Tooele; mother-in-law, May Carter of Holbrook, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delphia and Elden Luke.

Davies Clarke
SALT LAKE CITY-Davies Clarke has reunited with his earthly father Henry G. Clarke Sr., brothers Kelly D., and Billy Joe, on Thurs. May 18, 2006. He was born Feb. 12, 1957 to Henry Gordon and MarJean Bowden Clarke.
He was raised and graduated from East Carbon High. Davie was a traveler, no matter where he went or who he met, he touched hearts. He will be remembered for his kindness and giving nature, he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Davie is survived by his children and grandchildren: son, Davies Joe Jr. (April) Clarke, grandchildren, Alexis, Payton, Jamie and unborn Cody Davies Clarke, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Devan Marie (Randy) Andreasen, grandchildren, Christopher, Riun, Taylor, Kayly and Ambria, Spanish Fork; daughter, Katie Clarke, Brandon, Kristie and Tami Copeland, Orem; mother, MarJean Clarke, Salt Lake City; sisters, Pat (Paul) Hill, Sue Ann (John) Naranjo, Kathy (Van) Cook, Shawnee Clarke, and brother, Henry G. Jr. (Janice) Clarke. Memorial service Wed. May 24, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street, Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s one half hour prior to services. Joe F. Martinez
Once again Joe F. Martinez, formerly of Sandy, Utah is on the road. He left on his final trucking run on May 21, 2006, at the age of 76. He was born to Jose Adolpho and Senaida Valdez Martinez, Nov. 4. 1929 in Gallina, N.M. He married Virginia Roberts, Oct. 16, 1951, later divorced.
After driving for 30 years, for several trucking companies, he accomplished his life long dream of owning and driving his own semi-truck as an independent trucker and later retired from the trucking industry.
Joe enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting with his family. He was a great example as a father, and grandfather and will be missed by those who knew him best.
Survived by his three sons, Joseph D. (Ina), South Jordan, Steven J. (Kim), Price, Kenneth A. (Cheryl), Draper, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his dad, Jose, two sisters, Effie Roberts, Celia Martinez, three brothers, Pat, Amedeo and Joe A. Martinez. Preceded in death by his mother, his son James Evan and grandson Colton Levi and brother Phil.
Services will be held Wed. May 24 at 11 a.m. at Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. Tues. May 23, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Tony Karterakis
RIVERTON/PRICE- Tony Karterakis, age 77, passed away peacefully May 21, 2006 in Salt Lake City.
He was born Nov. 26, 1928 in Helper to James and Zambia Antonakis Karterakis. Tony enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and caring for his horses. In his youth, he spent many years herding sheep in Carbon County. Tony lived for his family and he made sure that his children were cared for. He loved visiting with family, friends and going on his “Wendover Trips.” Tony owned and operated the Golden Fleece in Salt Lake City. He was a dear friend to all and will be greatly missed.
Survived by two daughters and two sons, Toni (Kenneth) Karterakis-Forgy, Olympia, Wash.; Shelly Karterakis, Springville; Mike Karterakis, Taylorsville; Jim Karterakis, Riverton; six grandchildren, Shane, Athena, Angie, Paul, Shawn, Shalease; and six loving great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Janis, West Jordan; Agnes Peirce, Price; brother, Ernest Karterakis, Amarillo, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary, Christina, Kleaunthy and Tessie.
Funeral service, Thurs., May 25, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.
