Bridge repair

By By

SR-6 Bridge construction to impact traffic north of I-70. The Utah Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect heavy delays on SR-6 about 12 miles north of I-70 beginning July 10 and lasting through November. Road Construction crews will be replacing the deck of a bridge over the rail lines in that location.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in alternating directions and controlled by a temporary traffic signal near the bridge. Crews will remove the deck on one side of the bridge, replace it, and then move to the other side – channeling traffic into one 14-foot-wide lane on that half of the bridge.
UDOT and its contractor, Gerber Construction, are concerned that weekend traffic delays may be extreme, especially over the July 24 holiday and on Labor Day in September. On those heavily traveled weekends, motorists are encouraged to use I-70, U.S. 50, and I-15 to travel between Green River and Spanish Fork. The alternate route takes an additional 40 minutes to travel, but would avoid delays at the bridge.
The SR-6 project is expected to be complete by Thanksgiving. Construction schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, equipment breakdowns, or unexpected delays.
