Bomb scare at Huntington Plant

On Oct. 14 at approximately 11:05 p.m. the Zachary Construction company at the Huntington Power Plant received a phone call from an unknown person stating a bomb had been delivered to the construction site. The caller said the bomb had been delivered earlier in the day and was set to explode.
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office was notified. Deputies and detectives were immediately dispatched to the Huntington plant. The construction site and the Huntington Plant was evacuated. Deputies secured the area. The detectives began investigating and a complete search of the plant and grounds was conducted.
Emery County Sheriff LaMar Guymon said, “The Utah County bomb squad was put on alert and the FBI was contacted and placed on standby. Det. Sgt. Robert Blackburn led the extensive search assisted by numerous deputies for the sheriff’s office. Capt. Kyle Ekker was also involved in the search. After the search, the plant was deemed safe and by 4 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 the workers were allowed back to work.
“The detectives developed leads and with help from Emery ery Telcom and Verizon Wireless and through good investigative work the subjects involved were located and interviewed. The subjects both have entered written confessions and recorded confessions. Both are being held at the Emery County Sheriff’s Office and have been booked on second degree charges of making terrorist threats.
“One of the suspects had previously worked for the contractor at the Huntington Plant,” said Sheriff Guymon. Suspects were listed as Tyler James Lee Strong, DOB 9-28-88 and William Thomas Yarbrough III, DOB 10-10-84.
“I would like to compliment our deputies and detectives for the way this investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of the suspects,” said Sheriff Guymon.
