Kim Orullian
Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Marilyn “Kim” Moss Orullian, returned to our Heavenly Father Nov. 19, 2006 after a short but valiant fight with cancer.
Kim was born Oct. 1, 1958 to Vern and Bonnie Moss in Ogden, Utah. She married Robert “Bob” Orullian on Dec. 18, 1981. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. They have lived in Ferron, Utah since 1982.
Kim loved to walk and be outdoors. She had a natural love for animals. Her beloved dogs were often seen with her on her walks.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Bob of Ferron, and her son Kim Vern Orullian of Ogden. She is survived by her mother Bonnie Moss of Ogden, three brothers David (Stacy) Moss, Ogden, Kent Moss, Ogden, and Brent Moss, Ogden.
Funeral services will be Sat. Nov. 25, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Ferron Stake Center, 555 South 400 West, with a viewing one half hour prior to services at the stake center. Burial will be at the Ferron City Cemetery.
Dallas Allred
HUNTINGTON-Dallas died Nov. 18, 2006 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends. She was born March 23, 1989 in Price, Utah to Pam Greenan Allred.
Dallas loved many things, to dress up, and do her hair. She enjoyed basketball, watching movies and playing with the dogs. Spending time on the computer, listening to music and playing the piano were a few of her indoor loves. When it came to the outdoors she loved going 4-wheeling, she took up snowboarding and enjoyed hunting with her friends and especially with her brother-in-law Jake in Wallsberg.
Dallas was a senior in high school and had many accomplishments and awards. She was also the yearbook editor for 2006-2007.
Dallas was a very happy go lucky kind of kid. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her niece Gracie Ann and teaching her how to appreciate her kind of music. Gracie was the most important person in her life.
Dallas had big plans for her life. She was planning to attend college and study photography and become a computer tech.
She is survived by her loving and caring sister Megan (Jake) Fillmore and her niece Gracie Ann; grandmother Janet Greenan, whom she lived with and loved very much; one aunt and two uncles and their families, Michelle and Roger Anderson and their children Melissa, Carl, Bro, Kortnie, Trent, Jaylee and Hannah, and Mike and Marie and the boys, Buster and Darrin, and Jim and Edith and Dillon; one great-grandmother and numerous aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her mother Pam Allred and grandfather Michael Greenan.
Dallas is known as a great and caring friend to many people and the family would like to extend thanks to all those closest to her. We would like to thank Kelsi, Kylie, Guy, Hayden, Ty, Britlee, and Ryan.
Her family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Huntington EMTs, especially Leonard Norton, and the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, and friends for their caring thoughtfulness. Thank you Ruth Ann and Kaylene.
Funeral services will be held Wed. Nov. 22, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Huntington First/Fifth ward chapel, 115 South 400 East. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral. All friends are welcome to attend. Interment at the Huntington City Cemetery with Mitchell Funeral Home presiding.
Jack Otani
1922-2006
CLEAR CREEK-Longtime resident of Carbon County, Jack Otani, passed away Nov. 12, 2006 in Arizona. He was born Sept. 27, 1922 in Worland, Wyo. to Kichisaburo and Kishino Iyechika Otani.
Survived by his wife, Sei; children, Jack (Rebecca), Bonnie Mae, Kay K., Randy and Kenji; grandchildren, Derek, Kelli, Kamren and Kelcy. Preceded in death by his parents, brother George, and daughter-in-law Kelly.
Memorial service, Wed. Nov. 29, 2006 at 11 a.m. Family will greet friends at Mitchell’s on Wednesday one hour prior to service.
Bessie McArthur
HUNTINGTON-Bessie Sitterud McArthur, 88, returned to her Heavenly Father Nov. 14, 2006 in Elmo, Utah. She was born Oct. 25, 1918 in Orangeville, Utah to Jesse Randolph and Edna Stilson Sitterud. Bessie married Shirl C. McArthur March 1, 1941 in Price, Utah, solemnized in the Manti Temple June, 29, 1942.
Bessie loved to travel, worked side by side with her husband in the coal mine industry, was an avid reader, and an excellent seamstress. She was a great cook being exceptionally good at slow cooked spaghetti. Bessie was kind, quiet, and dedicated to her husband and family-her greatest contribution in life was her tender nurturing, and loving care of her children.
In her later years, Bessie loved her daily ride to Mohrland with her husband to see the deer. She served in many positions in the LDS Church and in the Manti Temple for many years. Bessie also served a mission with her husband writing the History of Deseret Coal Mine.
Bessie is survived by her loving husband, Shirl; her children, Shirlee (Ronald) Knighton of Centerville, Utah, Sheila (Glenn) Sebring, Sharol (Don) Childs, Scott (Maureen) McArthur, Shane McArthur, all of Huntington, Stuart (Carol) McArthur of Parker, Colo.; brothers and sisters, LaVar (Donna) Sitterud, Ray (Myrleen) Sitterud, Selma (Bland) Tuttle, Ruth Cox, Neldon (Lola) Sitterud, Karen Barton, Phyllis (Jerry) May, Mac (Mary Marie) Sitterud, Sally (Kenneth) Ryan, Velda (Jack) Crumpley, Sue (Ed) Johnson, Connie (Bill) Jones, and Colleen (Leon) Defriez; 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, brother Clyde, sister Elva, and grandson Bradley Sebring.
Funeral services were held Fri. Nov. 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center, and a viewing was held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, Utah, and one hour prior to service. Burial in the Huntington Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Rachael Spencer
SUNNYSIDE- Our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and longtime friend, Rachael Ann Paraday Spencer, age 26, passed away Nov. 14, 2006 from injuries received in an auto accident.
She was born March 15, 1980 in Ogden, Utah to Dale I. and Elizabeth Provenza Smith.
Married Jase Douglas Spencer, July 29, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Member of the LDS Church. Rachael was a kind and loving person and her favorite thing was spending time with her husband and kids. She graduated from Clearfield High School and later attended Weber State. In January, she was planning on attending C.E.U. in hopes of obtaining her nursing degree. She loved to decorate her home and work in her yard. She will be dearly missed by her family and many dear friends.
The family would like to give thanks to her best friend Melissa who stood by her through the good times and the bad, and that’s what true friends do.
Survived by her husband, Jase Spencer; daughters, Samantha Paraday, Kaylee Spencer, parents, Elizabeth and Dale Smith, all of Sunnyside; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maxine and Craig Layton, Clinton, Utah; sister, Yvonne (Matt) Harris, Roy; brother, Jesse (Keri) Paraday, Killeen, Texas; brother, Robert (Rykie) Lake, Layton; sister-in-law, Angie (Brian) Muller, Brigham, Utah; sister, Jamie Paraday, Savannah, Ga.; grandparents, Lucile Smith, Douglas (Merle) Spencer; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear cousins.
Preceded in death by grandparents, William J. Smith, Delbert and Annabell Layton, Jess and Roberta Paraday.
Funeral service was held Nov. 20, 2006, 1 p.m., East Carbon LDS Ward. Family members were at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price, Nov. 19 from 5-7 p.m. and at the church in East Carbon Monday one hour prior to service. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside.
Melva S. Nelson
Melva S. Nelson returned home to her Heavenly Father and many family and friends on Nov. 11, 2006. She was laid to rest in Salt Lake City on Nov. 15.
Melva was born on Nov. 12 1909 in Ferron to James L. and Effie Pettey Stevens. She graduated from Wasatch Academy and the Quish Beauty School. She and her father owned the Stevens Barber and Beauty Shop in Salt Lake for 29 years and she later worked as a tour guide traveling the United States by bus.
Melva married Ernest Blakemore in 1957; he passed away in 1967. She married Glenn Nelson in 1970; he passed away in 1984. Melva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many leadership positions. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and making crafts.
Melva is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; twin brother, Mel Stevens and his wife, Madeline; sister Bonnie Stevens Jensen and her husband, Therald Jensen. She is survived by nephews James Jensen (Klenell), Jerry Jensen (Roslyn), Dix Jensen (Jeannie), niece Bonnie Lynn Stradling (Joe) and her many great nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her friends and the staff at the Heirloom Inn who took excellent care of her.
Lorene Ann Cassett
Lorene Ann Gilbert Cassett, 91, passed away Nov. 17, 2006 in Arizona from causes incident to a stroke.
She was born March 18, 1915 in Mulberry, Kan. to the late James E. and Goldie Ann Buck Gilbert, she was a twin and the third of five children who preceded her in death.
Married Arthur W. Cassett, March 4, 1935, a marriage that would last nearly 60 years, until he passed away on Feb. 14, 1995.
She is survived by her son Bill, and daughter-in-law Linda; grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Cassett, David Cassett, Amanda (Alan) Rother, Nicole Mathenia; and great-grandchildren, Savannah Cassett, Gabriel Cassett, Adisyn Mathenia and Chloe Smith.
Before moving to Youngtown, Ariz. in 2002, she was a longtime resident of East Carbon and Sandy, Utah and Rock Springs, Wyo. She was a retired secretary for the State of Wyoming. Lorene was a lifetime member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the Episcopal Church. She will be remembered by family, friends and neighbors for the way she touched people around her with her energy, faith, independence, determination, kindness, laughter and love of life. She will be greatly missed.
Graveside service, Wed., Nov. 22, 1 p.m., Price City Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lorene’s name to the American Stroke Association.
