J. LaVar Sitterud, age 90 passed away Dec. 19, 2006 in Ferron, Utah. He was born March 17, 1916 in Orangeville, Utah, to Jesse Randolph Sitterud and Edna Stilson. He married Donna Cox on Jan. 6, 1941 for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple.
He served a mission for the LDS church in Norway and the southern states. All who knew him appreciated his talents and benefited from his many interests. He was a master teacher and speaker.
LaVar is survived by his wife Donna of Castle Dale, children, Sandra (Tracy) Jeffs, Jay (Joan) Sitterud, Drew (Julie) Sitterud, 11 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Raymond Sitterud, Neldon Sitterud, Mac Sitterud, and sisters, Selma Tuttle, Ruth Cox, Karen Barton, Phyllis May, Sally Ryan, Velda Crumply, Sue Johnson, Connie Jones, and Colleen DeFriez. Preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Edna Sitterud, brother, Clyde Sitterud and sisters, Elva Sitterud and Bessie McArthur.
Funeral Services were held Fri., Dec. 22, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Castle Dale Stake Center, 10 East Main Street. A viewing was held Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at the Castle Dale Stake Center from 9:45-10:40 a.m. Burial was at the Orangeville City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

William D. McDougald


MOAB-Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, William D. McDougald, age 79, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2006 in Price.
He was born March 12, 1927 in Holiday, Texas to David Cullen and Mary E. Daum McDougald.
He married Mildred E. Bowen May 29, 1948 in Queens, N.Y., they later divorced. He married Doris Ann Wilson Jan. 14, 1984 in Moab, Utah.
William honorably served in the US Air Force during the end stages of WW II.
William graduated from Grand County High School. He then attended the University of Utah achieving a masters degree in geology. During his college years, he joined the ROTC as a second lieutenant. Over the years, he owned and operated Geological Services and was a recognized authority on uranium and vanadium in the Western United States.
He was a member of the Moab Elks Lodge #2021 and the Lions Club. He served 32 years on the Moab City Council, four years on the planning commission, and four years as mayor. He received the first and only College of Eastern Utah honorary doctorate degree.
William enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially golf.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the loving staff at Heirloom Inn; Dr. Daniel Monahan; Dr. Glenn Etzel; and Dr. David Nichols, for their love and care of William over the past year.
He is survived by his wife, Doris and her family; son, Michael (Charlene) McDougald; daughter, Janel (Jon) Anast; stepsons, Kent and Scott Ross; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances (Harold) Foy, Moab; Mary (Reid) Davis, Farmington, Utah; Dorthy (Fred) Markle, Moab; and a community of friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, and brothers David C. McDougald Jr. and K.E. McDougald.
Memorial service will be held Thurs. Dec. 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Community Church located at 544 MiVida Drive, Moab. Family will be at the church one hour prior to services. Family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Community Church in Moab, P. O. Box 88, Moab, UT 84532.

Ernest John Etzel

PRICE-Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Ernest John Etzel, 73, of Price, died Dec. 18, 2006. He was born Jan. 5, 1933 in Castle Gate, Utah to Henry and Katie Ariotti Etzel.
He married Delores “Dee” Fratto on Aug. 28, 1954 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Dragerton. He was a lifelong resident of Carbon County.
Ernie graduated from Carbon High School and Carbon College where he played baseball, basketball and football. In 1952, he entered the US Army and served in Korea with the 7th Infantry Division. As a member of the US Army Reserve, he served in Vietnam with the 259the Quartermaster Battalion in 1968-69. He graduated from the Army Command and General Staff College and retired from the US Army and Army Reserve as a Colonel. During his military career, he received 17 medals and citations including the Bronze Star.
Ernie worked as a letter carrier with the Price Post Office for 34 years. He was a member of many civic and charitable organizations including Price Elks Lodge #1550, Knights of Columbus of Notre Dame, American Legion Post #3, and the Stella D’America Italian Lodge.
He enjoyed his favorite pastime, golf, with the members of the Senior Golf League at the Carbon Country Club. He was an active member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Dee; his children, Scott, Leslie (Roy) Jewkes, and Tom (Annjanine); grandchildren, Jenifer, Kristen, Monica, Gina, Andrew, Daniel, and Christine. Ernie loved the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Remo (Shirlee), and Robert (Cherie), and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Elvira, and his brother Al.
Funeral mass was held Sat. Dec. 23, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service was Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home where friends and family called from 6-7 p.m. Committal service in the Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price.

Glen Rhody Anderson


EMERY-Glen Rhody Anderson passed way on Dec. 21, 2006 after a painful bout with cancer. He was born Oct. 17, 1920 in Emery, Utah, to Wilson Warren Anderson and Angie Lenna Nielsen Anderson. He married Norma Olsen for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 14, 1946.
Glen was an educator most of his life, having taught in public school for 41 years and later doing industrial training for eight years. He also worked as a farmer, ship fitter, and carpenter.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-saints. His many church callings included: President in the Seventies Quorum for eight years, ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Jordan River temples for 28 years, usher on Temple Square for several years, stake missionary, presidency of a Servicemen’s Branch and Care Center Branch, High Priest group leader, on the High Council, and many other teaching assignments throughout the church.
He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Norma Olsen, a son, Eric (Marie), a daughter, Kathleen (Paul), three grandchildren, and the following half brothers and sisters; Lorene Rantz (Bob), Fenton Anderson (Marlene), Annette Jensen (Richard), Eugene Anderson (Cynthia), Iola Roylance (Ken), Lavona Hutchings (John) and Ramona Anderson, and two sister-in-laws, LaRee Anderson and Shirley Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, family would like donations sent to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
Funeral Services will be Thurs., Dec. 28, 2006 at 12 noon at the Emery LDS Chapel, 70 North Center, Emery. Visitations will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and, Thursday from 10:30-11:40 a.m. both at the Emery LDS Chapel. Interment will be in the Emery Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.

Gardell Auberger


CARBONVILLE- Gardell Auberger, age 66, passed away Dec. 21, 2006 in Price.
He was born March 18, 1940 in Carbonville, Utah to Frank and Melinda Gentry Auberger.
Married Karen Ivie, July 8, 1966 in Elko, Nev.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Longtime resident of Carbon County where he was a retired employee of the Carbon School District. He graduated from Utah Technical College with a degree in electrical drawing.
For many years Gardell has owned and operated a body and fender shop in Carbonville. Gardell was a helping hand to all and he especially loved sharing time with his family and grandchildren.
Gardell enjoyed his many friends over the years and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife, Karen Auberger, Carbonville; son, Todd (Tammy) Auberger, Ferron; daughter, Melinda Auberger and her fiance Jeremy Anderson, Carbonville; daughter-in-law, Penie Auberger, Price; four grandchildren; brother, Bill (Dorothy) Gentry, Beaver Dam, Ariz.; and sister, Ruth Pecharich, Salt Lake City.
Preceded in death by his parents, son, Troy Clair Auberger; sisters, Claudette House, Carmen Waters; brothers, Ellis Auberger, Jack Gentry, and LaVille Auberger.
Funeral service, Thur., Dec. 28, 2006, 1 p.m., Spring Glen LDS Ward Chapel, located at 4000 North 2000 West in Spring Glen. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to service.
Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.

Art Aragon


CARBONVILLE- Our beloved father, grandfather, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and longtime friend, Arthur Joseph Aragon, age 52, went home to our Heavenly Father on Dec. 19, 2006 as a result of a tragic auto accident. He was born March 21, 1954 in Price, Utah to Abel and Eva Escandon Aragon.
Art made his home in Carbonville with his life partner and best friend, Jan Bueno. He had two previous marriages, the first to Stephanie Milkovich, to which they had a beautiful son Joey. He later married Joyce Rich and they had two beautiful children Sarah and Jared.
Art was a member of the Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he was a strong supporter of the UMWA. He worked in various coal mines in Carbon and Emery counties and attended numerous union conventions. He was currently employed at Consol Coal Mine in Emery for the past four years.
He loved the outdoors and his favorite pastime was heading for the open road and riding off into the sunset on his Harley.
Art is survived by his companion, Jan, Price; loving children, Joey Aragon, Sarah (Adam) Oveson, Jared Aragon; his beautiful grandchildren, Jaycee Aragon, Keirsten and Gracie Oveson; brothers and sisters, Abel J. (Linda) Aragon, Price; Becky (Jack) Marinos, Helper; Richard (Joanie) Aragon, Provo; James J. Aragon, North Salt Lake; Elena Robles, Price; special grandfather, John Escandon, Price; step-daughters, Amanda and Brittany Bueno; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a community of friends. Preceded in death by his father, Abel Aragon; mother, Eva Gonzales; and dear friend Dave Olsen.

Dominic Bruno “Dom”


PRICE- Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend, Dominic Bruno, age 79, passed away peacefully Dec. 21, 2006, at home while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 24, 1927 in Spring Glen, Utah to Pete L. and Mary Pianfetti Bruno.
Married Marva Rae Drolc, Dec. 1, 1950 in Price, Utah.
“Dom” was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he was well known for his skill as a master electrician. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a life member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1550. Many of “Dom’s” greatest past times were spent enjoying the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, viewing wildlife and 4-wheeling. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and helping them in all endeavors.
Survived by wife, Marva Rae Bruno, Price; children, Arthur D. (Tonya) Bruno; Jeanece (Steve) Cowan, both of Price; Barbara (Kelly) McKean, Salt Lake City; Larry P. (Janice) Bruno; Marianne (Rick) Hanson, both of Price; Martin R. (Eileen) Bruno, Helper; brother, Pete L. Bruno, Price; sister, Susan Friend, Westminister, Calif.; brother-in-law, James Paletta, Helper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald (Georgie) Drolc, Richfield, Jim (Mary Lou) Terry, Craig, Colo.; special friend, Robert Pike, Price; also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, sister, Mary Ross; brother Daniel Bruno; sisters-in-law, Doris Bruno and Betty Paletta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Mryna Drolc.
