The Emery High Wrestling team hosted American Leadership Academy of Spanish Fork in a dual wrestling match last Wednesday and came away with a 51-9 win.
Although ALA is a new school, they are able to get students from all over Utah Valley and will be quite a formidable school once they get some upperclassmen.
Here are the winners for the Spartans. First, here are the Spartans that pinned their opponent in the first round, Zach Walls at 119, Cade Whittle at 140, T. Wayne Hatch at 152 and Cyal Christmas at 285.
The following Spartans pinned their opponent in third round, Kessler Tanner at 140, Mike Jones at 171, Wade Bohn at 215 and Caleb Jones at 285.
McKay Allred at 125 was the only Spartan to win with a decision. His final score was 18-10. Craig Guymon at 135 was decisioned 3-2 and Drew Bohn at 189 was pinned in the second round of his match.
Kessler, Mike and Wade had all built big leads with points when they pinned their man and each were in control of their opponent and appeared to be able to do whatever it was that they wanted to do.
On the previous weekend, the team had traveled to Manti participated in a 10-team tournament. Due to injuries and lack of low weights, Emery gave up 30 points in every match and had a hard time fighting for a team title.
As a team, the Spartans finished sixth. Mike Jones had the best finish of an individual with a fourth place finish while in the JV tournament, John Staley finished second.
