John Nick Sampinos
PRICE-John Nick Sampinos, age 82, passed away in Price, Utah on Dec. 26, 2006 as a result of Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in the village of Houmiriani, Greece, on July 20, 1924 to Nick John and Demetra Kotari Siampanis.
At the age of 27, he immigrated to Carbon County, Utah and made Price his permanent home. He married Toula Logiakis in 1954 and together they successfully owned and operated the Hi-Spot Cafe for more than 27 years. Affectionately know as “Coffee John” he enjoyed many years of serving his loyal customers and friends.
Survived by his wife, Toula; son, Nick (Toni) Sampinos; daughter, Billie (Sam) White; grandchildren, Angela and John Sampinos, and Christopher White, all of Price; sister, Georgia Maragos, Greece; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Vasiliki Mihas.
Funeral service was held Sat. Dec. 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. Trisagion service was held Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price. Family was at Mitchell’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment in the Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, P. O. Box 688, Price, UT 84501 or to a charitable organization of your choice.

Jesse Scott Brinkerhoff
HUNTINGTON-Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, Jesse “Scott” Brinkerhoff returned home to his Heavenly Father peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 27, 2006. He was born April 17, 1962 in Ogden, Utah to Jesse and Rae Brinkerhoff.
Scott worked for the Union Pacific railroad and Utah State Parks. Scott had a great love for his long time wife and friend of 25 years Lisa, his children Joshua, Jonathan, Jessica, Jennifer, Janel, Jackie, Jamie, (Casey Anderson), Jaylee, and his pride and joy grandson, Joshua.
Scott loved the outdoors, he taught his children an appreciation for the outdoors. He taught them survival skills, hunting and fishing. He loved animals, his latest accomplishment was achieving his falconry license.
Scott was proceeded in death by father Jesse Brinkerhoff, nephew Dusty Sorensen, brother-in-law Doug White, grandparents Loren and Mary Roundy, and Lloyd and Zella Brinkerhoff, Margaret Koppes and Mary White. Survived by wife Lisa and children; mother, Rae Brinkerhoff; brothers, Richard, Gary, and Loren Brinkerhoff; sisters Jeanette Sorensen, Glenda Hansen, Ralene Larsen, and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Viewing will be Tues. Jan. 2, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at the Huntington Stake Center. Services will be held Wed. Jan. 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center with a viewing one hour prior to service. Burial is at Hunting City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Jameson Tyner
Our Little Fighter
Our little fighter, Jameson Tyner, took his last breath on Earth in his mother’s arms, surrounded by his family at home on Dec. 24, 2006. He has left his family here on Earth to be with his Grandma Atwood in heaven.
He was born Feb. 25, 2005 to Jami and Chris Tyner. At the age of 16 months old, he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer. When he went in the hospital for the first time his mother bought him a blue stuffed Teddy bear, and he held onto him everywhere he went. He liked playing with his big brother and his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed, but Jameson, he’s our little fighter.
He is survived by his parents Jami and Chris Tyner, his big brother Christopher, Papa Atwood, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Mary Bridge Hospital, friends and family for their prayers and support. The funeral will be held in Washington.
Dale J. Smith
SUNNYSIDE- Dale James Smith, age 64, died of natural causes, Dec. 28, 2006 at the home of his beloved granddaughter, Amber Tidwell.
Born June 10, 1942 in Price to Rulon James and Lenore Johnson Smith. Married Jackie Pilling Frandsen, later divorced. Married Patricia Payne June 19, 1978 in Elko, Nev.
Dale was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he was employed with the railroad, department of transportation and worked in various mines in the area. Member of Price Elks Lodge #1550, E. Clampus Vitus, V.F.W. Miners Post #2379, and the Grassy Trail Riding Club.
Dale honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting, camping, horseback riding, collecting plates, stamps and books and he enjoyed Indian artifacts.
Survived by his wife, Patricia, Sunnyside; mother, Lenore Smith Chapman, Helper; daughters, Tracey Morris, Helper; Cherrie Tidwell, St. George; Denise Paul, Running Springs, Calif.; Kerrie Smith, Helper; brothers, Lynn Smith, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Gary Smith, Mesquite, Nev.; step-brothers, Gate Chapman, Livington; Mark Chapman, Rock Springs, Wyo.; step-sisters, Nettie Patrick, East Carbon; Jean Hunter, Price; grandchildren, Craig, Amber, Jared, Kayce, Cody, Dale and Lexi; grandson-in-law, Levi; great-grandchildren, Terra and Shyanne; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father and step-father, Spenst Chapman.

Ed Laude
Edwin Martin Laude, age 90, passed away Dec. 26, 2006 surrounded by his family at Parkdale Care Center. He was born July 22, 1916 in Fredonia, Kan. to Martin Luther and Etta Hunt Laude.
He married Ruth Lavinia Young on March 28, 1947 in Rockaway, N. J.
Ed was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army in the Pacific Theater aboard the S.S President Johnson. He was a typesetter for many newspapers, retiring in 1988 after 20 years of service with the Sun Advocate.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Ruth; sons, Larry (Lee Ann) of Dallas, Texas, and Steven of Price. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Corrine (Chris) Rasmussen of Salt Lake City; Brittany (Mario) Alaniz of Price; Steven Laude Jr. of Price; and Josh Laude and Whitney Laude of Dallas, Texas. Also survived by great-grandchildren, Alisha Celeste Alaniz, David Jace Alaniz, Patch Edwin Alaniz and Corrissa Maralyn Rasmussen.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, brother Alan Laude, and great-granddaughter Cordelia Dee Dee Alaniz.
We would like to thank all of the people who have helped care for Ed the past few years while he battled Alzheimer’s.
At Ed’s request there will be no services,. He was cremated and his remains will be taken care of as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Utah Chapter, 845 East 4800 South, Suite 120, Salt Lake City, UT 84107.
Adeline Pacheco
EAST CARBON- Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and longtime friend, Adeline Medina Pacheco, age 86, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Dec. 28, 2006.
She was born Aug. 11, 1920 in Las Cruces, N.M. to Isidro and Stephanie Maese Medina.
Married Alex Pacheco, March 18, 1945 in Las Cruces, N.M.
Member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she was active in many church activities, and in 2003 she was honored as Woman of the Year.
Adeline was a friend to all and she loved to share her beans and hot sauce chile with everyone. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and a community of friends.
Survived by her husband of 61 years, Alex Pacheco Sr., East Carbon; two sons and five daughters, Alex Pacheco Jr., East Carbon; Danny Pacheco, East Carbon; Veda (Luis) Martinez, East Carbon; Delia (Paul) Marquez, Sunnyside; Stella (Rufugio) Torres, East Carbon; Rita (Jesse) Martinez, Palm Springs, Calif.; Nita (Dru) Lemmon, Salt Lake City; daughter-in-law, Antonia Pacheco, East Carbon; two sisters and one brother, Alicia Sanchez, Andres Medina, both of Las Cruces, N.M.; Emily Medina, Mesa, Ariz.; 17 loving grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; son, Ernesto (Neto) Pacheco; brothers, Raul and Victor Medina; sister, Pepa Sanchez.
