Ben Grimes Exhibit


Ben Grimes is having a one-man photography show at the College of Eastern Utah. It will run until March 31 on the second floor. The museum is open Monday thru Saturday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Parade of States


Steven Schierman, a fifth grader who is working on a project called Parade of States, he has to sell the state, and is asking your help by sending interesting things about Utah. Sister Study

Scout Fireside


Scout Sunday Fireside will be held Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Huntington Stake Center. Elder Jay Sitterud will be the guest speaker. All Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity and Venturing Scouts, Scout Leaders, Youth Leaders, parents and the public are invited. It will be a combined fireside with Buckhorn and Carbon Districts.

Caleb Sitterud


Caleb Sitterud the son of Randy and Cathy Sitterud, has sustained multiple head injuries as a result of a serious car accident. He is in ICU in very serious condition. Donations to help with medical expenses can be made at Wells Fargo. A benefit dinner and silent auction will also be held on Jan. 20 from 5-9 p.m. at Critter Country Fixin’s. A roast beef dinner will be served for $10 a plate.

Scrapbook and Card Class


A scrapbook and card class will be held on Jan. 19 at 5 p.m.- midnight at the Castle Dale Senior Citizen Center in Castle Dale. We will be making birthday pages and cards. We will serve ice cream and cake. Call Tiffany at 435-384-2272.

Historical Society


The Emery County Historical Society will present speaker, author, historian, Dr. Edward A. Geary on Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. Refreshments will be served; everyone welcome. Yearly membership dues are due. Huntington Dog Licenses


The Huntington City 2007 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on Jan. 20 from 9 a.m.- 12 noon and Feb. 24 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Ferron Rabies Clinic


Dr. Jensen will be at the Ferron City Shop, 25 East Molen Road, on Jan. 13 from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Dr. Utley will be at the Ferron City Shop on Jan. 18 from 4-6 p.m.

Economic Development Meeting

Emery High Play


Money, Power, Murder, Lust, Revenge and Marvelous Clothes will be presented at the Little Theatre at Emery High on Jan. 9, 10 and 13 at 7 p.m. This is a comedy spoof on soap operas. More than music.

Stephanie Pauline


Stephanie Pauline, a Christian singer and songwriter will be performing at 7 p.m. in the Rio Theatre, in Helper, on Jan. 12.

Cleveland Rabies Clinic


Cleveland Town will sponsor a rabies clinic Feb. 20. Dr. Griggs will be the vet this year. All dogs are required to have a current rabies shot before they can be licensed for the new year. All dogs must be licensed by March 1. Dog licenses are $5 for spayed or neutered. $15 if not. All dog owners are encouraged to take advantage of this clinic. This will be the only one for Cleveland Town this year.

Emergency Kits


Huntington Elementary is putting together Emergency Kits for each classroom and are in need of many items. In the event of an emergency theses items could be essential for saving the lives of your children. Please contact Huntington Elementary at 687-9954 for a list of needed items.

Food Handler’s Classes


Food handler’s classes will be held in Price on Jan. 24 and Feb. 27, and March 27, 2007 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Health Department office at 28 South 100 East, Price. Emery Town Dog Licenses


2007 dog licenses are available at the Emery Town office. The cost is $5 for altered dogs and $15 for unaltered dogs. Five dogs or more require a $50 kennel license. Proof of altered status (if applicable) and current rabies vaccination are required for every dog at the time of licensing. All dogs must be licenses by March 1, 2007 to avoid the late fee.

Teacher Achievement Award

Baseball Camp


The Rocky Mountain School of Baseball will hold its 14th Annual Winter Ball Camp on Jan. 13-15, 2007 in Mesquite, Nev. The camp is for individual players or teams from ages 7-18. Shuttle Service for Veterans


There are 150,000 veterans in Utah and many of them live in the southern parts of the state. For this reason the VA has sponsored a shuttle service to carry all veterans who cannot drive to the Salt Lake Medical Center for specialty treatment. Under the auspices of the Disabled American Veterans, a new 2005 Ford Freestar Minivan was purchased in 2005 through fund raising efforts in St. George. That van now has more than 120,000 miles logged and will need to be replaced in 2007. Since the service is offered to all veterans in Southern Utah, we are asking them for help in raising the funds necessary to purchase another this time a 12 passenger since the demand has grown. The Dixie Chapter of the DAV is caretaker of the funds and has an account in Wells Fargo Bank to which donations may be made. All are tax deductible under the DAV Tax ID 8761512361. The account is named The Dixie Chapter 7 Disabled American Veterans Van Replacement Fund and can be accessed for donation at any Wells Fargo branch. Orangeville Dog Licenses


Orangeville dog licenses are due for 2007. The cost is $8 for spayed or neutered dogs and $25 for non-altered dogs. Please bring in current rabies information when licensing your dog. All dogs must be registered by March 1. A rabies clinic will be held on Feb. 10 at the old fire station from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Any question call the city hall 748-2651.

Programs for High School Students


The Interamerican University studies Institute will offer two programs to Costa Rica and Pura Vida this summer. The programs are open to students between the ages of 15-17 who will have completed two years of high school Spanish by June. Scholarships are also available. Applications are due by Feb. 9, 2007. Habitat for Humanity


Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country is accepting home applications. Appicants must complete 20 hours of work for the group, have been turned down for a conventinonal home loan and have a stable income. Volunteers and board members are needed. Prehistory Week Poster Contest


State History announces the 2007 Utah Prehistory Week Poster Contest. The 2007 TRUTH from Youth Anti-tabacco advertising contest is giving fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to become a big-time producer. Local Veterans Employment Representative


A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Tip Line for Drug Violations


A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Angels Have Wheels
