Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. has appointed Douglas B. Thomas as a judge of the Seventh District Court. He will replace Seventh District Court Judge Bruce K. Halliday, who announced his retirement effective this month.
The Seventh Judicial District is comprised of Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan counties.
Thomas, who is from Layton, has been a court commissioner in the Second District Court and a shareholder in Gridley, Ward and Shaw.
He has also been an associate at Roy B. Moore, P.C. and Associates and was for a time a sole practitioner.
Thomas was an associate with VanCott, Bagley, Cornwal and McCarthy.
He received his juris doctorate at the University of Utah College of Law and his MBA from the UofU. Thomas also attended Brigham Young University and Weber State College and has attended numerous seminars in law topics. Nomination subject to Senate approval.
