Vietta Loy Hansen
Loy Hansen, 65, died March 14, 2007. She was born Oct. 2, 1941 to Herbert and Ora Bawden in Cleveland, Utah. She married Nels Gary Hansen Nov. 14, 1958.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband Gary Hansen, her sister Renee’ Carr, her sons Robert (Kim) and Kris (Jolynn) of Emery, Utah., Richard (Julie) of Price, Utah, and only daughter Brenda Layton (Dana) of Mission Viejo, Calif., and her 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sat. March 17, 2007 at 12 noon at the LDS church in Emery. A viewing was held one hour prior to services. Interment followed at the Emery Town Cemetery. Under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
George Christian Stucki
CASTLE DALE/ST. GEORGE, UTAH- George Christian Stucki, 64, passed away Thurs., March 22, 2007 in St. George, Utah after a valiant battle with brain cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1942 to Merrill and Maggie Brooks Stucki in St. George.. On June 20, 1969 he married Christine Facer in the St. George LDS Temple. They raised five sons and one daughter. Following their divorce in 2000, he married Cleo Dinu of Romania on April 14, 2006 in Romania.
George grew up in St. George, attended public schools and graduated from Dixie High School. He was in the Utah National Guard and served honorably. He served an LDS mission in Scotland, and returned to graduate from Dixie College. George graduated from Utah State University with a bachelors degree in physical education and recreation management. He also earned a master’s degree in education.
George loved sports all of his life. He played on many youth leagues at Dixie High and Dixie College. He was a great catcher in baseball. He loved coaching and coached all of his children in a variety of sports. He taught school in Oakridge, Ore., Bancroft, Idaho, and Castle Dale, Utah. After teaching for 30 years for the Emery County School District he retired in 2002. George loved providing educational opportunities for the youth of Emery County. He was the director for the Miss Emery County Pageant for more than 18 years. He was the Emery County Democratic Chairman for six years and loved the political arena. While he served as Castle Dale City Councilman for 10 years he started the Christmas decorations for the city. George loved the Southeastern Utah Stock Show and was a 4-H leader for many years providing sheep for the youth to raise and show at the stock show. George owned and operated Complete Carpet Care for 28 years serving Carbon and Emery Counties. He was an active member in the LDS church and held many positions of leadership. George had a strong testimony of the gospel.
George is survived by his wife Cleo Stucki; children, Rjay George Stucki of Cedar City, Utah, Daniel Brooks (Becci) Stucki of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Rory Facer Stucki of Salt Lake City, Utah, Alonzo Bert of Pinon, Ariz., Summer Lynn Stucki of Atlanta, Ga., and Matthew Morris (Ashley) Stucki of Castle Dale, Utah. He is also survived by his mother, Maggie Stucki of St. George; and siblings, David (Karren) Stucki of St. George, Jeannette (Tom) Anderegg of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary (Jerry) Tousa, of St. George; granddaughters, Kashawna and Asa Paige Bert and many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing Sun., March 25, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George. A viewing will be Mon., March 26, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 710 North Center Street, Castle Dale, Utah. Funeral services will be Tues., March 27, 2007, 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Castle Dale Cemetery.

Frank Compagni
EAST CARBON- Frank Compagni Sr., 90 years young, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2007 with his loving family present.
He was born Feb. 14, 1917 in Sunnyside, Utah to Ventura and Rosalia Pedatella Compagni. Frank was the oldest son of 11 children and a life long resident of Carbon County.
Married Della Farlaino on May 20, 1936 in Castle Dale, Utah. Dad worked for Utah Fuel and U.S. Steel where he retired as master mechanic. Following retirement he became mayor of East Carbon City, Utah. During the 1940s and 50s, he was well known in Eastern Utah with his musical group Frankie’s Rhythmairs. Member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the Price Elks Lodge 1550.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Compagni Smyth, Ogden; sons, George (Su) Compagni, Price; Charles “Chuck” Compagni, Wellington; Van (Valerie) Compagni, Eighty Four, Penn.; daughter-in-law, Elaine Compagni, Price; brother, Ventura Compagni Jr., Twin Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Della, son, Frank “Chico” Compagni; son-in-law, John Michael Smyth; daughter-in-law, Lynda Compagni; brothers and sisters, Louie, Michael, Albert, Charles, Gilda Compagni, Ida Fratto, Gilda Bergamo, Lola Logston, Amelia Bonacci.
Funeral mass, Wed., March 28, 2007, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church, East Carbon City, Utah. Vigil service, Tues. March 27, 2007, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. and at the church in East Carbon Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
Lucy Bonacci Capalbo
PRICE-Lucy Bonacci Capalbo, age 88, passed away Thurs. March 22, 2007, while surrounded peacefully by family.
Born April 13, 1918 in Sunnyside, Utah to Thomas and Bernardina Falvo Bonacci.
Lucy graduated from Carbon High School and went on to become a registered nurse and nurse anesthetist. She served in the Navy as a nurse during WW II. One of the memories she shared of this time was treating the soldiers of the Batan Death March. She met her husband, Frank Capalbo in Fontana, Calif. while still in the service. On June 3, 1949 they married and made their home in Carbon County.
She spent the rest of her career at Carbon Hospital as a nurse anesthetist. Lucy enjoyed nursing and she had exceptional skills in caring for her patients. Her family has heard how wonderfully satisfying nursing was for her.
As a grandma, Lucy had no comparison. She was Nani to her grandchildren. Lucy loved to cook, try new recipes, and visiting her without being fed was unheard of. She loved to knit, needlepoint, and many of her loved ones have beautiful sweaters, baby shawls, and Christmas stockings. She was always thinking of someone else, never knitting anything for herself.
Her family would like to express special thanks to Brenda Standley (we love you Brenda!), the Greg Daniels family who she lovingly adopted, her sister-in-law and best friend Lenore Bonacci, Molly Marrelli and Katie Blevins made her days complete with visits and phone calls. Also, to all the nurses and staff at Parkdale Care Center. Thank you all so very, very much.
Lucy is survived by her son, David (Linda) Capalbo, Price; daughter, Laurie (Richard) Moore, Anchorage, Alaska; four granddaughters and one grandson, Katie and Kimberly Capalbo, Price; Karen (BJ) Wilson, Salt Lake City; Zachary Moore, Missoula, Mont.; Jillian Moore, Idaho Falls, Idaho; two great-grandchildren, Trae and Jace Wilson. Lucy was loved by all who knew her and the friends she made became part of her family.
Memorial mass, Thurs., March 29, 2007, 9 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at the church Thursday one half hour prior to Mass. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Lola Anderson Sitterud
ORANGEVILLE: Lola Anderson Sitterud, 79, passed away on March 24, 2007 at her home in Orangeville, Utah surrounded by her family. With her husband constantly at her side, Lola bravely fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Cancer. She endured faithfully to the end.
Lola was born on Feb. 17, 1928 in Huntington, Utah to Soren August and Margaret Mathie Anderson. She was the youngest of 12 children.
On Dec. 20, 1947 Lola married Neldon L. Sitterud. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 11, 1951. Neldon and Lola were sweethearts who lived their lives with love and devotion to each other. Together they raised five children, sons – Randy Neldon (Cathy) Sitterud, of Castle Dale, Utah; Kirk L. (Karen) Sitterud, and Gary K. (Susan) Sitterud of Orangeville, Utah; daughters – Debra Sue (Ricky) Larsen of Orangeville, Utah and Lesa Ann (Wade) Gordon of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Lola attended school in Huntington, Utah and completed part of a year of college at Carbon College in Price, Utah. She worked for seven years as a teacher’s aide at Cottonwood Elementary School in Orangeville.
Lola was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and had an unwavering faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She faithfully served in various church callings and especially loved her work with the sisters of the Relief Society and with the children in the Primary.
Lola loved the beauties of nature, and loved going to the mountains and being with her sweetheart and family in her special little mountain haven called “Lola’s Place.”
Lola was preceded in death by her parents and her 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her eternal companion Neldon, her five children, 30 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many extended family members.
The family expresses a special thanks to Karen Ison who helped in Lola’s tender care for the past several years.
Funeral services will be held on Wed., March 28, 2007 at 12 noon at the Orangeville First Ward Chapel, 45 West 100 South in Orangeville. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on March 27, 2007, at the Fausett Mortuary, 710 North Center Street, Castle, Dale, Utah, and at the Church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orangeville City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
