Heritage Days Rodeo Queen Contest

Old Mine Maps


The Utah Geological Survey is looking for old abandoned coal mine maps. The maps will only be borrowed for a digital image and then will be return to the owners. For more information go to www.geology.utah.gov.

Retreat for Girls


Retreat for Girls is for LDS girls ages 12-15, 11 year olds can come upon request. The program is held at Utah State University on June 25-29. Huntington City


Huntington City clean up month goes until April 30. Please haul your trash to one of the dumpsters placed throughout the city. Burn permits will be required this year, pick up permits at the city hall. The burn window is from April 14- May 13.

Cleveland Elmo Coach Pitch


Cleveland Elmo coach pitch registration will be held on April 12 at the Old Cleveland Town Hall from 4:30-6 p.m. for ages 4-7. The cost is $15 for the first child and $10 for additional children. Scrapbook Class


A scrapbook, card class and crop will be held April 20 at the Castle Dale Senior Citizen Center from 5:30 p.m.-12 midnight. Bring your scrapbooking tools and join us for a night out. Classes have limited enrollment and are first come first serve. Crop is open to everyone. Free paper, Sizzix dye cutting machine, and great idea books are available for croppers. Crop fee is $5. Food Handler’s Classes


Food handler’s classes will be taught on April 26, May 17 and June 21 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the SEUDHD office, 25 West Main in Castle Dale. For more information call 381-2252. Classes will also be held in Green River on May 15 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Green River City Hall; and in Price on April 25, May 16, and June 20 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the District Health Department at 28 South 100 East.

Cleveland Fire Dept. Car Washes


Cleveland Fire Department will hold two fund raising car washes this spring. The first will be April 28 at the Main Street fire station from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The second on May 12 at the same time. Come and show your support to the Fire Department members for all their hard work and hours that go into being a volunteer fireman.

Miss Cleveland Pageant


All Cleveland girls ages 4-21 are encouraged to participate in this year’s pageant. The pageant will be held on June 2 at the Cleveland Town Hall. Any questions call Jenny Parkins at 653-2811 or town hall at 653-2310.

Emery County Gun Club


New, youth ages 10-18 and all women shoot at reduced price from 5-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome from 7 p.m. on. New A and B class for all games provides everyone with an equal chance to win. Schedule: April 14; April 28; and May 12.

Senator Bob Bennett Office Hours


In Green River City Building, 240 East Main- Council Chambers, Green River, April 17 from 1-3 p.m. Staff will be available to assist with federal agency issues. Emery Junior Miss Pageant


The Emery Junior Miss Pageant will be held June 2 at 5 p.m. at Huntington Elementary. Ages 5-8. Winner will accompany Miss Emery, Kristine Johansen, to the Miss Utah competition June 26-30 in Salt Lake City at Capitol Theater. Participants will be judged on two minute talent, a poem entitled Why is Emery County a Great Place to Live, Work and Play which they have written, and an on stage question. $40 registration fee. The Little Miss will receive a dress, attend a tea, crown and tickets for the Miss Utah pageant.

Soldiers Addresses Needed


American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have love ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq and Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren’t forgotten and that we care and support them. Mountain Man Rendezvous


For boy scouts, varsity and venturing scouts. Come and join the fun on the Buckhorn. There will be competitive shooting of 22s, shot guns, and blackpowder rifles. Trophies will be given. April 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for boys 11-19. There is no charge. To be held at the Buckhorn rendezvous site 14 miles east of Castle Dale.

Emery County Democrats


Emery County Democrats will be holding their county convention and dinner on April 12 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the SanRafael (96 North 100 East in Castle Dale). All interested people are welcome to attend. County party officers will be elected and local and state party leaders will speak. Dinner, entertainment and prize drawing will also be provided. Tickets will be available at the door or contact your precinct chair or county officers.

Castle Valley Pageant


It’s time to sign up for the Castle Valley Pageant to be held on Aug. 2-4 and 7-11. Families are encouraged to sign up together. Priority may be given when parents are participating. Enrichment Meeting

Cleveland Meeting


The April meeting for the Cleveland Town Council has been changed from April 12 to April 19. The meeting will be held in the Cleveland town office, 100 West Main at 7 p.m. The Cleveland Town Council encourages all residents to be involved in the progressive improvements of the community.

Basketball Tournament


Emery High School Men and Women Alumni Basketball Tournament sponsored by Emery County Recreation will be on April 21 from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee per person. Miss Emery Pageant


The Miss Emery scholarship pageant will be held on July 14 at 7 p.m. Contestants must be 17 years of age by Sept. 1 to be in the pageant. Most juniors qualify. Competition includes talent, interview, swimwear, on-stage question and evening gown.Scholarships for the pageant winner are queen, $1,200, first attendant, $700, second attendant, $500.

A local veterans employment representative visits the Castle Dale DWS Office the first Wednesday of each month. Tip Line for Drug Violations


A tip line has been introduced in Emery County. The Emery County drug task force is requesting help from the residents to report any suspicious drug activity. The number is 381-2888, and all callers will remain anonymous. It is very important for citizens to be actively involved in helping remove drugs users and pushers from Emery County.

CASA Volunteers Needed


Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Valley Cancer Center, located at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has a new toll-free phone number.
