The American Legion Department Of Utah District 5 held their Spring Convention recently at the Huntington Senior citizen center.
Legion Posts and Auxiliaries from Emery County, Carbon County, and Grand County were in attendance at the Convention.
District 5 Commander Ray Quinn conducted the convention affairs.
District Auxiliary President Carolyn Randall officiated for the Auxiliary Meeting.
Many topics were discussed at the convention, with the War Memorial for Emery County being the top item of discussion.
The American Legion Department Commander Richard Fisher and his wife, Cary Fisher Department Auxiliary President honored the convention with their presence. Department Vice Commander Todd Akin was also present for the convention.
The opening prayer was given by Post 73 Chaplain Owen Olsen. District 5 Vice Commander Mario Dicaro led the attendance with the Pledge of Allegiance.
District Commander Ray Quinn reminded the attendance of POW-MIA Resolution 288 adopted at the 67th National Convention that a POW-MIA flag will be posted on an empty chair at all meetings as a physical symbol of the thousands of American POW-MIA still unaccounted for from all wars and conflicts involving the United States of America. And for all of us to spare no effort to secure the release of any American Prisoners from captivity, and the repatriation of the remains of those who died bravely in the defense of liberty and a full accounting of those that are still missing.
District 5 Auxiliary President Carolyn Randall led the attendance in the Preamble of The American Legion.
A very tasty meal was prepared for the attendance after the conference by Post 73 Auxiliary.
The American Legion Post 73 and Auxiliary Unit 73 will be doing Memorial Day Services at the following cemeteries May 28: Elmo 10 a.m.; Cleveland 10:45 a.m.; Lawrence 11:20 a.m.; and Huntington 12 noon. All are welcome to attend the memorial day services for the veterans
