Cottonwood teacher wins Crystal Apple

Jared Anderson presents the Crystal Apple award to Christy Bingham of Cottonwood Elementary.

Christy Bingham was awarded the Crystal Apple Teacher of the Year award on the last day of school, May 25. At the award assembly at Cottonwood Elementary, Jared Anderson of Emery Telcom made the presentation.
Bingham has been teaching school for 35 years, five of those years have been at Cottonwood Elementary in Orangeville. In the nomination letter which was written by a fellow teacher at the school, it was noted that Bingham has taught grades one through six, and has also taught at the School for the Deaf. She has a Masters degree in education, and has completed an intensive reading program sponsored by Southern Utah University.
It was also noted that Bingham has the respect and confidence of the school community and is valued as a person with high integrity; she is a very positive force in the school.
Bingham loves each of her students as an individual. Her students love her just as she loves them. She also goes the extra mile for her students. Bingham is retiring at the close of this school year.
