Cade Jones’ medical problems began about five years ago with a broken leg. Things have been on a downward slide ever since as he was diagnosed with Cushings syndrome.
This is a tumor on the pituitary gland. In most cases the tumors are taken off the gland and the disease is brought under control, but in Cade’s case the tumor was granulated over the entire gland and was unremovable. This out of control pituitary causes rapid weight gain. Cade has been on human growth hormone to control the growth of the tumor. This controls the tumor, but not the side effects. Diabetes is one of the side effects of the Cushings syndrome.
The diabetes has been out of control. A recommended treatment was for Cade to undergo a gastric bypass to try to shock his metabolism into working again. After the surgery, complications set in and Cade was in St. Mark’s hospital for a week where things were brought under control.
All of Cade’s hospitalization has been without health insurance. The medical bills have piled up on the family.
Friends and neighbors decided it was time for the community to give back to the Jones family. The Jones family is always there to help out when someone else is in need. Meals for sick people, meals for mothers with a new baby, helping with Heritage Days, helping with the Castle Valley Pageant, FFA and stock show volunteers, school volunteers and the list goes on and on.
A benefit will be held for Cade Jones on June 7 at 5 p.m. at Canyon View Junior High. There will be a dinner, bazaar, bake sale, auction, and raffle. Donations can be made at Utah Power Credit Union in his name.
Donations to the bake sale or auction can be taken to the school on the day of the benefit. Numerous handmade items have been donated for auction.
The benefit organizers ask for the county’s support in behalf of this family in their time of need.
