Road work near Emery Town and Green River
SR-10 south of Ferron (about 20 miles north of I-70)
Project includes lane-leveling operations, paving and sealing a 10 mile section of SR-10 at the south end of Ferron. Crews plan to begin work on June 25 with traffic reduced to one lane in alternating directions as directed by flaggers and pilot cars. Motorists should plan for delays of up to 20 minutes in each direction. Project completion is expected by October 2007.
US-6 Milepost 283-288 (about 10 miles north of I-70)
Project includes the addition of uphill passing lanes. Crews are currently paving the roadway. Traffic is reduced to one lane in alternating directions as directed by flaggers and pilot cars during working hours (Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.). Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes during working hours. Project completion is expected by fall 2007.
Accident on I-70 causes death
On June 18 at approximately 3 p.m. a westbound Honda SUV at mile post 93 rolled into the median. The driver was in the left lane passing a semi when the semi pulled out also to pass a slow moving RV.
The Honda driver swerved to avoid contact with the semi and rolled into the median. Four people not wearing seat belts were ejected from the vehicle. An 11 month old boy, 11 year old male and a 7 year old female all suffered serious injuries.
The female driver was not ejected and the father in the front seat was not ejected. One of the ejected passengers was a 54 year old female and her injuries were fatal.
All of the people in the Honda were related and from San Diego. One of the injured was taken to Sevier County Hospital and the others were lifeflighted to Primary Children’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
