Mary J. Fowler
EAST CARBON-Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Mary Jones Fowler, age 85, passed away July 1, 2007 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 6, 1922 in Castle Gate, Utah to Alexander L. and Johanna Reed Jones.
Married Jay H. Fowler Sr., June 16, 1939 in Castle Dale, Utah; he died Aug. 18, 1984. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where she raised her family and was a very active community member. She had a fierce love for family. She enjoyed music, crocheting, dancing, camping and especially family get togethers. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and lover her.
Survived by her daughters, Jaylene (Angelo) Marakis, East Carbon, Penny Long, Grand Junction, Colo., Ricki (Jeff) Palmer, East Carbon; grandchildren, Lisa, Angelo, Lindsay, Taylor, KyLeigh and Halyn; great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Bryan, Casey and Josh; and great-great-granddaughter, JayCee.
Preceded in death hy her husband, son, Jay H. Fowler Jr., and son-in-law, Loren L. Long.
Funeral service was held Fri., July 6, 2007, 10 a.m., East Carbon LDS Ward Chapel. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Friends are welcome at Mitchell’s daily. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery.
Jay Jeffs
CASTLE DALE- Jay Jeffs passed away on July 7, 2007. He was born on March 18, 1953 in Price, Utah to Archie Jeffs and Stella Anderson Jeffs Reid. He was the youngest of three boys. He graduated from Emery High and Salt Lake Community College. He married JoAnn Hansen and had four girls.
Jay loved to work. He was a miner for American Coal. He was the fire boss at Des Bee Dove Mine. He was also the face boss, shift foreman, surface foreman and underground construction foreman at Wilberg Mine. He then went to Nielson Construction as a heavy equipment operator.
All who knew Jay can attest to his great sense of humor. There was always fun to be had when Jay was around. He also had an overwhelming love for his girls, which he instilled in them his great love for the desert, for his horses and other animals. He loved to work, and he had fun in everything he did.
Jay is survived by his wife and his girls, Jodi (Russ) Willson of Ferron, Jamie (James) Huggard of Mona, Jasa (Jared) Norton of Castle Dale, and Jana (Kyle) Larsen of Cleveland. He is also survived by his mom and brothers Lee (Pam) Jeffs of Castle Dale, Ray (Teresa) Jeffs of Orangeville; brothers-in-law Kirk Hansen of Cleveland, Hans (Jacklyn) Hansen of Elmo; sister-in-law Lori (Ben) Brady of Elmo; mother and father-in-law, Darold and Henrietta Hansen of Elmo; and grandpa Jay’s little buckaroos and biggest fans Devin, Colton, Abby, Bailey, Wade, Chase, Tylee, Kelsey and Kade. He is also survived by step-sisters Marie Jensen and Annette Winder. Jay is preceded in death by his dad, grandmother Sarah Anderson, and step-dad Ed Reid.
Services will be held Thurs., July 12 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. A viewing will take place on Wed., July 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and also one hour prior to service. Interment will take place at the Castle Dale City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Ann Marie Kane “MiMi”
GREEN RIVER-Our dearest mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend “MiMi”, Ann Marie Kane, age 52, passed away at home in Green River, Utah on July 6, 2007 while surrounded by her loved ones after a long hard fight with cancer.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1954 to Gerard Frances and Ann Marie Mulvany Kane in Bronx, NY.
Until recently MiMi resided in White Plains, NY where she worked in the commercial air condition business. Two and a half years ago she came west to be with her family. Her passion and joy in life was her only daughter Shannon and her sweet grandson Gavin, the light of her life.
MiMi had a strong faith and was a member of the Catholic Church. She loved cooking for her family and friends just as much as her family and friends enjoyed the feasts she prepared.
She was a great inspiration to her nieces and nephews, and she loved encouraging them and watching their achievements. She made each one feel special and important. She was a kind hearted person who loved everyone and that love was returned. MiMi will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her daughter, Shannon Kane and her grandson, Gavin of Hanford, Calif.; five sisters and one brother, Cathy (Bob) Gardner, Claire (Walt) Maldonado, Rita (Greg) Vetere, all of Green River, Utah, Jennifer (Tracy) Spadafora, Laura Kane, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Jerry (Audrea) Kane, Deer Park, Wash.; and nine loving nieces and nine nephews.
Funeral service, Tues., July 10, 2007, 10 a.m., Green River Bible Church. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
Don Clifford Snow
FERRON-Don Clifford Snow, age 86, passed away July 2, 2007. He was born April 20, 1921 to Clifford H. Snow and Blenda Ralphs. He married Virginia May Killpack on July 22, 1945.
Don took pride in serving his country; serving with the Army Air Corp during WWII while stationed in Puerto Rico.
Don loved doing wood working and mastered the skill of carpentry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with his sons, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don also loved spending time outside doing gardening.
Don is survived by his wife, Virgina May Snow (Ferron), children, Paul (Lee) Snow (Salt Lake City), Susan (Carl) Labbee (Orangeville), Lyle (Shanna) Snow (Wasilla, AK), 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Don is preceeded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Brinlee Snow and Abraham Snow.
Funeral services were held Fri., July 6, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Millsite LDS Chapel, 35 West 200 North. Visitation took place Fri., July 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. -12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Internment was in the Ferron City Cemetery with Military Honor’s following the services under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Katherine Tomadakis
PRICE-Our loving mother, grandmother and dear friend, Katherine Douros Tomadakis, age 92, passed away Fri. July 6, 2007 in Price. She was born Nov. 26, 1914 in Cainsville, Mo. to George and Mary Dawson Douros. Married Bill P. Tomadakis, Sept. 5, 1936 in Price; he passed away on Feb. 12, 1973.
Katherine was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. She was a longtime resident of Carbon County and an active member of the Carbon County Senior Citizens where she helped with the monthly paper.
She was formerly employed with Slaugh’s Nursery, Gambles and Red Balloon. She enjoyed making ceramics, embroidering gifts, and making many afghans for family and friends.
She loved working in her yard, gardening and canning. She was always busy and loved to read. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by three sons, John W. (Donna) Tomadakis, Price; Peter (Rowena) Tomadakis, Spanish Fork; George (Bea) Tomadakis, Halifax, NC; eight loving grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Funeral service, Wed., July 11, 2007, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. Trisagion service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
