Desertview ProRodeo on July 26, 27 and 28 at fairgrounds
The Desertview ProRodeo is slated to come to town on July 26, 27, 28 at the rodeo arena in Castle Dale. The three day event will be jam packed with cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country competing for big money purses.For the first time this year the Desertview ProRodeo is a sanctioned Dodge Rodeo.
During the rodeo on Friday the Castle Valley Ranch colt giveaway will make a proud horse owner of the lucky ticket holder. A winner will be drawn from all of the rodeo ticket stubs to the Friday night event.
Each night of the rodeo will feature the wild cow milking event. Local cowboys compete for prize money and all around belt buckles for the overall champions. This is Emery County’s truly extreme, unique event. Don’t miss this event because you will be entertained to the max with this wild action.
The Desertview ProRodeo has attracted some local cowboys, Brock and Justin Truman, calf ropers from Huntington and Monte Jensen, calf roper from Price. Top cowboys and cowgirls coming to the Desertview ProRodeo include: Jess Davis, Payson, who is ranked number two in the world in bareback; Tag Elliot, Thatcher, Utah is ranked number 22 in bullriding; Jake Hannum, Ogden, number three in calf roping; Sonny Murphy, Tremonton, number seven in bullriding, just coming off a back injury; bullrider Jerry Shepherd from Nephi; Wesley Silcox, Payson number five and reserve World Champion in 2006; Sheri Sinor-Estrada, barrel racer is a perennial National Finals Rodeo qualifier; Vickie Solmonsen, ranked number three in barrel racing; Steve Woolsey, bullrider and saddlebronc. The rodeo committee said, “This is the best field of barrel racers and bull riders we’ve ever seen at this rodeo.
The rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening under the Emery County blue skies.

The Kiesner Family and their Wild West Revue is part of the entertainment each night of the rodeo this year. Their roping, riding and shooting skills will amaze you. Rider Kiesner was just named roper of the year and he will show off his roping skills at the rodeo each night.
Butch Lehmkehler will be the barrelman and clown for the rodeo this year.
Two lucky rodeo fans will be drawn from the ticket stubs for a chance to win a new 2007 Dodge truck valued at $30,000. This will take place at the July 26 rodeo. The participants must be able to kick a football 35 yards into the bed of the truck they could win. The event is sponsored by the Price Auto Group. The contestants must be 18 years of age or older and cannot have played high school, college or pro football in the last five years. Be at the Thursday rodeo for your chance to win.
Are you T.E.T.W.P.? What exactly does that mean? The Desertview ProRodeo committee wonders if you are “Tough Enough to Wear Pink.” The rodeo committee wants every rodeo fan through the gate on Thursday, July 26 to show their support by wearing a pink shirt, hat, ribbon or just anything will do. For every pink fan the rodeo will make a donation for breast cancer awareness. The Desertview ProRodeo has partnered with “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” for the Thursday night performance. “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” has been raising big bucks for cancer across the nation. Some of the largest rodeos in the nation have climbed on board. Many of them have raised $30,000 and more for a single event.
Wrangler is a partner in the cause and donates all of the money from the sale of pink shirts to breast cancer awareness.
Rodeo organizers say, “We want everyone to know that we support you in your fight against cancer. We would like to encourage all cancer survivors to come out to the Thursday night rodeo and to wear pink. This is the first time we have done this, but we want to make it a tradition at our Desertview ProRodeo. We love you and care about you and anything we can do to make your fight against cancer a little easier we would like to do. We would just like to look out over the crowd on Thursday night and see a sea of pink shirts, hats or whatever. We don’t even care if you want to dye your hair pink for this occasion.”

This is a world class rodeo event and with the addition of the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event for cancer we hope to make this rodeo even more community friendly. Ike Sankey will provide the rodeo stock for the event. Sankey is known far and wide for his rodeo animals who know their job and perform it well. His stock is used every year at the National Rodeo Finals held each year in Las Vegas.

As a bit of a preview of the free Ricochet concert on Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. the National Anthem at the rodeo will be a recorded version featuring Ricochet each night.
Rodeo concessions will be offered each night for the hungry cowboy and cowgirl. The Desertview ProRodeo kicks off two weeks of fun and the Emery County Fair begins Aug. 1 with a free pig dinner. Events continue Aug. 2-4, culminating with the huge, free Ricochet concert on Aug.4.
