Oak Hills Vaulters
The Oak Hills Vaulters will entertain during the races at Peach Days. They will perform gymnastics on horse back. The vaulters will be available to answer questions and let those who would like to try some of the maneuvers ride the horses. They will be set up behind the barns at the Ferron Race Track on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
Ferron Peach Days
Sept. 4 Parade your Pet pet show at the Mayor’s Park 6 p.m. Open to youth of all ages and their pets. Pick up an entry form at City Hall. Race Draw Fairgrounds 6 p.m.
Sept. 5 Exhibits accepted at City Hall from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
Sept. 6 Floral exhibits and baked or cooked items due at City Hall by 10 a.m. Contact Paula at 384-3282. Talent Show and Peach Dessert Contest 7 p.m. at Mayor’s Park.
Sept. 7 Exhibits on display at City Hall 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Dinner and entertainment in the Park. Fundraiser dinner at the Fairgrounds Park from 6-8 p.m. Fireworks 8:30 p.m. at Millsite Reservoir.

Fun and games at the Mayor’s Park immediately following the Parade. Soapbox Derby Races begin at Noon at 100 East and Mill Road. Contact City Hall for rules and sign up information. Exhibits on display at City Hall from Noon-5 .m. Horse Races will begin promptly at 1 p.m. at the Fairgrounds. Demolition Derby following the Races at approximately 6 p.m. Dance immediately following the Derby in the Multi Purpose Building at the Fairgrounds.
Ticket price to enter the Fairgrounds on Sept. 8 will be $7 per person and will admit you to the races, derby and dance. Advance tickets may be purchased at Ferron City Hall for $25 per family (family of five) or $6 for individual pass. No family passes will be sold at the gate. No alcohol is sold or allowed on City property; please do not bring carry-in coolers.
Girl Scout Sign-ups
Girl scout sign-ups for the Ferron, Emery and Clawson area will be held at Ferron Elementary in the lunchroom on Sept. 6 immediately following school.
USDA Emergency Loans
President Bush declared a major disaster in Utah on Aug 21. As a result agriculture producers are eligible for Farm Service Agency emergency loans. Farmers/Ranchers in Emery/Carbon/Grand Counties can apply for an emergency oan by April 21, 2008. Applications can be picked up at the Emery/Carbon County FSA Office, 1120 N. Showtime Dancers

Miner’s Wanted
Miner’s from all the towns are invited to come and ride in the Peach Days parade on Saturday morning as honored citizens. They will be honoring all of the Miners for the brave contribution to our communities.
Arapeen ATV Jamboree Ladies Only Ride
The ladies only ride during the Arapeen ATV Jamboree will be held Sept. 5. The cost is $10 and that will cover the lunch. Lunch will be catered on the mountain. Castle Dale DUP
Castle Dale Daughter of Utah Pioneers will be hosting a lunch and a short program on Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale Senior Center. Everyone is welcome to attend. The group also meets together on the second Monday of every month.
Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raiser
A spaghetti dinner to raise funds for the families of the miners of the Crandall Canyon mine disaster will be held at the Emery Recreation Center at 100 North and 100 West in Emery. The dinner will be on Sept. 10 from 6-8 p.m. with all donations going to the Zions Bank accounts for the miners families. For more information call Eric at 286-2225.
Softball Tournament

Trapped Miners Families
A special fund has been set up which goes directly to the families of the trapped miners. To make a donation, call Huntington City Hall at 687-2436 or take that donation to City Hall. No donation is too small.
Green River Melon Days
Green River Melon Days will be held Sept. 14 and 15. On Sept. 14 activities include softball games, Miss Melon Days Pageant and square dancers. On Sept. 15 vendors will be in the park all day. Entertainment in the park, parade, softball games and other activities. Free all you can eat watermelon in the park.
Benefit Barrel Race

Youth Leadership Summit
The Fourth Annual Castle Valley Youth Leadership Summit will be held at Emery High School Sept 22. All youth ages 14-18 may attend. Enjoy a day of fun workshops, games, service project, dance and a grand prize of a computer or Ipod. Peach Days at Emery County Care and Rehab
Raffle tickets will be available to benefit Emery County Care and Rehab. Items to be raffled will include rifle and quilts. There will also be a bake sale, food and entertainment at the center. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. Will accept bake sale donations. For more information contact 384-2301.

Soldiers Addresses Needed
American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren’t forgotten and that we care and support them.
