Manti-Lasal National Forest Christmas Trees


Ferron/Price Ranger Districts: (435) 384-2372, (435) 637-2817. Permits go on sale Nov. 19. Permits are $5, one permit per household, one tree only. Permits can be purchased at the Price Ranger District Office, 599 West Price River Drive, Price and the Ferron Ranger District Office, 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron, Utah. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. any species of tree may be cut, except Ponderosa Pine.

Defensive Driving Class


The Utah Safety Council is offering a four hour defensive driving course on Nov. 10 from 8 a.m.-noon at the Castleview Hospital classroom. For additional information or to register, contact the Utah Safety Council at 800-933-5943 or visit www.utahsafetycouncil.org.

CEU Theater


The Eastern Utah Theater presents David Auburn’s Proof, directed by Todd Olsen on Nov. 8-10 and 12-13 with a 7:30 p.m. curtain time in the Geary Theater on the CEU campus.

Used Library Book Sale


Cleveland Elementary will be having a used book sale on Sat. Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Books will be in the gymnasium all funds go to Cleveland PTO.

Huntington City Turkey Trot


Huntington City’s annual Turkey Trot will be held Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. It will begin at the Huntington City Park and has an entry fee of $1. There will be free T-shirts for participants, and feature a 5K run or walk and shorter races for children. For more information call Cathy at 687-2596 or Cheryl at 687-2403.

Riders for Santa


The Riders for Santa annual toy run will be held on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. The ride will start in Stewart’s parking lot in Castle Dale, then hot drinks and doughnuts in Orangeville. Bring new, unwrapped toys or cash donations can be made to Desertview Federal Credit Union in Huntington or Ferron.

Website to Help Local Residents


A group of local residents have started a website dedicated to empowering the people of Emery and Carbon counties to articulate their points of view regarding the recent tragedies at Crandall, coal mining and coal mining culture, and the future of coal mining in this region. Dedication of Veteran’s Monument


The dedication of the Veteran’s Monument, located at 70 North 100 East in Castle Dale is scheduled to be held on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. There will be a program honoring all Veterans.

Senator Bennett’s Staff in Castle Dale


Donna Sackett and Jon Cox of Senator Bennett’s office will be in Castle Dale on Nov. 6 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. They will assist with problems you may be having with federal agencies, social security, military, VA, Medicare, immigration, IRS, BIA, BLM, US Forest Service, postal service, etc. They will be at the Emery County Courthouse, 75 East Main Street in the small conference room on the second floor.

Castle Dale Elementary Book Fair


Castle Dale Elementary’s Book Fair will be held Nov. 7-9. Look day is Nov. 7 during school hours, with parents night that evening from 6-8 p.m. Sales begin for students Nov. 8 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., closed during lunch and recess, and then on Nov. 9 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., also closed during lunch and recess.

Finding Peace Within
