Emery County Gun Club Schedule

Permits can be purchased at the Price Ranger District Office, 599 West Price River Drive, Price, Utah and the Ferron Ranger District Office, 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron, Utah. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. any species of tree may be cut, except Ponderosa Pine.

Huntington City Turkey Trot


Huntington City’s annual Turkey Trot will be held Nov. 22 at 9 a.m. It will begin at the Huntington City Park and has an entry fee of $1. A group of local residents have started a website dedicated to empowering the people of Emery and Carbon counties to articulate their points of view regarding the recent tragedies at Crandall, coal mining and coal mining culture, and the future of coal mining in this region. College of Eastern Utah Announces The Return of Bread ‘n Soup Night


College of Eastern Utah is sponsoring its eighth annual Bread ‘N Soup Night on Nov. 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center with proceeds from the dinner going to the Carbon County Food Bank. The cost is adults $5, students $3, meal-plan students $2 and children 8 years and under $2. Students, faculty and staff volunteer at the event to make sure as much money as possible is raised to contribute to the local charity.

Pi Kappa Alpha Game Ball Run


The members of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity welcome you to support their 19th annual Keven B. Kennedy Game Ball Run. This fundraising event is held in conjuction with the UofU versus BYU football game. On Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. the “Pikes” will run a relay, carrying the rivalry game ball from Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake to Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo. Festive Fridays Return for the Third Year

Spinal Care Classes


Spinal Care Classes are being offered free to the public by Dr. Ronald B. Sanders at Castle Chiropractic. These classes will help identify things that people do wrong that injure the spine. They will also discuss exercises and remedies to help alleviate back and spinal problems. This class lasts one half hour, from 4-4:30 p.m., and are given every Tuesday at Dr. Sander’s office at 46 East Main Street, Castle Dale.

Soldiers Addresses Needed


American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren’t forgotten and that we care and support them. Share the Experience Photo Contest


The Utah Office of Tourism is encouraging amateur photographers with a love of Utah’s public lands to help promote the state’s beauty in a national contest. The contest is open to the public and accepting submissions until Dec. 31. A total of 14 photographs will be given awards for their excellence. The Grand Prize winning photograph will be printed on the 2009 Federal Recreation Lands Pass and the photographer will receive a new 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. CNS Flu Clinic


Community Nursing Services will host a flu shot clinic at Castle Dale Senior Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Nov. 20. Medicare will be accepted. Shots are $25 for those without medicare.
