Local teens Angelica Gomez, Whitney Roper and Rikelle Larsen attend the Hannah Montana concert in Salt Lake.

“Hannah”! “Hannah”! “Hannah”! The chanting inside Energy Solutions Arena grew louder. We sat in our seats, waiting impatiently for the concert to begin. It was still hard to believe that we got tickets to see Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers in concert. Slowly, the lights faded and the curtain opened. The best night of our lives was about to begin.
The concert started with the director of High School Musical, Kenny Ortega, taking the stage. He surprised the audience by telling us they were filming the concert for a 3-D Hannah Montana Movie that is going to be in theaters.
As he left the stage, a huge curtain began to open. There, suspended in the air was the opening act of the tour, the Jonas Brothers. As their first song, “Kids Of the Future”, began to play, the trio was lowered to the stage. The crowd went crazy. The three drop-dead gorgeous brothers, Joe, Nick and Kevin, danced and sang their way through all of their well-known songs like “SOS”, “Hold On” and “Year 3000”.
Our favorite song was “Goodnight and Goodbye.” During the song, they all walked to the end of the stage, and began to rock out. They were flying, kicking and jumping in the air. It was so awesome. Not only are they hot, they know how to dance.
We definitely know they pointed at us during one of the songs. We were the only ones dancing in our section, so it had to be us, right?
While waiting for Hannah Montana to come out, we watched backstage, looking for a sign of her. Our seats were to the side of the stage so we saw everything going on behind the scenes. We couldn’t believe how close we were. (Thanks, Stewart for helping mom get tickets).
As the lights dimmed, the crowd went wild again. It was Hannah Montana’s turn to perform. The whole audience was watching as a pink box started coming down from the ceiling. It looked like Hannah Montana dancing inside. As the box hit the floor, we could see Hannah Montana climb into the box from a trap door on the stage. As the box rose, she jumped out singing the song, “I Got Nerve”.

Hannah Montana and her backup dancers sang and danced to all of her best-known songs. During many of her songs, pyrotechnics shot off into the air. She changed costumes after every song or two and talked to the audience between numbers. Our favorite song was “Nobody’s Perfect.” You could hear the audience and us singing with almost every word.
After a short intermission, she was back onstage minus the blond wig. This time, she was Miley Cyrus, the girl who portrays Hannah Montana. She started off with the song “Rockstar”. She also sang “See You Again”, “Girl’s Night Out” and “Let’s Dance.” She ended the night with her TV show theme song, “Best Of Both Worlds”.
As she said goodbye, the crowd exploded, chanting her name. After a few minutes she came back out one last time and sang a song she wrote about her grandpa called “I Miss You.”
We were about to leave the arena when Kenny Ortega invited the audience to stay and watch as they refilmed some of the songs for the movie. Yay! More Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana. It was awesome to see them perform their songs over and over again. It was almost like watching the concert twice.
When the concert ended, we were on our way out when we saw a camera crew doing fan interviews for the movie. Of course we wanted to be interviewed. We filled out permission slips and decided what we would do for the camera. When it was our turn, we got a little nervous, but started singing and dancing like crazed Hannah Montana fans. We were all looking good with our Hannah Montana souvenir T-shirts. The camera crew kept laughing at us for being so crazy.
As we walked out of the arena, we saw tour buses lined up outside and took pictures. We wanted to get a closer look at the buses but a cop was standing close by.
We sang songs from the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana all the way down the street to the car. We started the car and off we went, still singing, back to the hotel to eat Krispy Krme doughnuts and dream about our night at the concert (and how hot the Jonas Brothers were). It was an experience we will never forget.
