Lorna Davis
Lorna Lorraine Fail Davis died on Nov. 20, 2007 in Paonia, Colo. after a mercifully short battle with cancer.
Lorna was born on April 28, 1929, daughter of Fred and Vila Fail, in Orangeville, Utah. She grew up there, graduating from South Emery High School and then attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was while working as a secretary for Hadley Transfer and Storage Company in Salt Lake that she met Donald Davis, a truck driver employed by Mayflower who decided on the spot that she was the only one for him.
Lorna and Don were married on June 9, 1956. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 24, 1960. They made their home in the Salt Lake area until 1974 when they returned to Lorna’s beloved Orangeville. Lorna and Don had only recently moved to Paonia, Colo. to be nearer to family members.
Lorna was very active in the LDS church, and with Don, served two LDS missions – a welfare mission to Deseret Industries in Burley, Idaho and a family history mission in Salt Lake City. She also worked for many years at the Emery County Courthouse in the Auditor’s office. Lorna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest wish was that her family continues to love each other. They are all grateful she’s been given the chance to return home with the parents and siblings she has missed so much.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Don Davis of Paonia, Colo.; daughter, Sharon (Scott) Morley, also of Paonia; son, Brent (Collette) Davis of Lehi, Utah; son, Garth (Debbie) Davis of Rock Springs, Wyo.; daughter, Jenny (Steven) Staheli of Goshen, Utah; 13, soon to be 14, grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vaughn Fail, and sister, Cleo Davis, both of Orangeville, Utah.
A viewing was held on Sunday, Nov. 25 at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street, Castle Dale, Utah) from 6-8 p.m., and funeral services were held in the Orangeville LDS Church (45 West 100 South, Orangeville, Utah) on Monday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m., with a viewing from 12:30-1:30 p.m. that day. Interment was at the Orangeville Cemetery.
We love you, Mom, Lorna, Grandma, and we’ll be OK. We know you’re where you want to be, but you will be greatly missed.
Robert Edwin Wilcox
1928-2007
Robert Edwin Wilcox passed away peacefully in the Highland Care Center, Holliday, Utah on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at the age of 79.
Son of Edwin “L” Wilcox and Ruth Blake. Married Anna Vee Houskeeper, Sept. 17, 1949; who preceded him in death March 23, 1999. Married Alice Josephine Bower, April 29, 2006.
Raised in Green River, Utah. Graduated with electrical engineer degree from University of Utah. Served in the Army in Japan on assignment for peacetime forces after World War II. Robert gave 32 years professional service working as a petroleum engineer for Marathon Oil Company in Lovell, Wyo., Lance Creek, Wyo., Sidney, Neb., McFadden, Wyo. (Laramie), and Midland, Texas.
Robert’s love of Christ has been fervent throughout his lifetime. He served LDS temple missions with his beloved Anna Vee in London, England; Chicago, Ill., and Mesa, Ariz. In recent years he battled diabetes but never lost his love of life and desire to be independent. His determination to research family history gave him purpose and direction. He loved his neighborhood, the SLC downtown area, and was a familiar spectator to the construction sites, often seen on the sideline in his electric wheelchair as the unofficial engineer to the projects.
Robert is survived by his children, Larry R. (wife: Denice) Wilcox, Kearns, Utah; Bryan “L” (wife: Jacquline) Wilcox, Gilbert, Ariz.; Robyn Lee (husband: Ray) Parker, Spanish Fork, Utah; Alan C. (wife: Debra) Wilcox, Eldorado Hills, Calif.; and Cory A. (wife: Eva Marie) Wilcox, Richfield, Utah; brother, David Wilcox; sisters, Shirley Powelsen and Kathleen Parks; 21 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sister Norma Jean Estrada.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at 11 a.m., Salt Lake Ensign Stake Center at 135 A Street. Friends and family called Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and one hour prior to the service at the Stake Center. Interment at Salt lake City Cemetery. Starr Hal Guymon
Starr Hal Guymon, age 87, our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all, passed away Nov. 21, 2007 from cancer. He was born June 25, 1920 in Huntington, Utah, one of 13 children born to Edward Montell and Minerva Mackelprang. He married Madge Johnson July 14, 1943 in Baltimore, Md.; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death May 3, 2006.
Dad was a mechanic and cattleman all his life. A veteran of WWII, he served in Patton’s 3rd Army in Europe. He was very active in his community and church, serving in various callings including elders quorum presidency, high council, and bishop of the Huntington First Ward. He served as president of the Huntington-Cleveland Irrigation Company, member of the Water Conservancy and Soil Conservation Districts; loved music and sang with the Huntington Glee Club for more than 50 years; president of the cattlemen’s association; long-time member of the Utah Farm Bureau.
Dad was a very patriotic, hard-working man of great honesty and integrity. He was honest in all his business dealings. He loved Gentry Mountain where he ran cattle for many years. The way he treated and cared for our dear mother is a beautiful love story. We will miss him dearly.
Ha is survived by children and their spouses: Courtney and Vee Guymon of Huntington; LaMar and Gayla Guymon of Huntington; Kay and David Phillips of Heber City, Vaughn Guymon, Huntington. Survived by 69 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Orilla Ungerman and Maurine Nielsen. Preceded in death by spouse, son Larry; six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, 11 a.m. in the Huntington LDS Stake Center where friends and family called Sunday evening, 6-8 p.m., and from 9:30-11 a.m. on Monday. Burial, Huntington Cemetery under direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Brandon Ori
WELLINGTON- Our loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, Brandon Paul Ori, age 29, passed away Nov. 20, 2007 in Price.
He was born Oct. 2, 1978 in Price to Louis P. and Tina Kellow Ori.
Brandon was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper where he was an altar boy. He graduated Carbon High School in 1997. He was athletic and enjoyed all sports. His number one priority was his family. Brandon enjoyed riding motorcycles, listening to music, and watching movies. He was an avid dog lover. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.

Jimmy Stevenson
PRICE-James Harold Stevenson, age 57, passed away Nov. 24, 2007 in Price while surrounded by his family.
He was born June 16, 1950 in Dragerton, Utah to Harold Thomas and Mary Stella Stevenson.
Married Gaile Lorain Anderson, Aug. 16, 1972 in Elko, Nev.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Carbon County. He was a graduate of East Carbon High School Class of 1968, attended CEU where he played basketball for both the high school and the college. He shared a great love for sports and one of his greatest enjoyments was coaching Little League baseball for 12 years. His passion for the New York Yankees, was only exceeded by the joy he shared with his ballplayers and the thrill of taking his team to the Little League World Series in 1989. He enjoyed hunting with his boys and sharing time with his family and friends.
Jimmy was a fourth generation coal miner who worked at Kaiser Steel from 1969 through 1992. He was a retired member of the U.M.W.A. local #9958 and was elected as the International Auditor in 1992 for the United Mine Workers of America where he served two terms as auditor. He also worked as the U.M.W.A. Safety Representative and organizer for many years. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his wife, Lorain Stevenson, Price; three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Kade (Becka) Stevenson, Huntington, Casey (Lacey) Stevenson, Vernal, Brandon (Cassidy) Stevenson, Price, Lacey (Kalib) Curtis, Helper; brother, Larry Stevenson, East Carbon; in-laws, James B. (Arline) Anderson, Wellington; brother-in-law, Jim Anderson, Spring Glen; and six loving grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen L. Stevenson; and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Anderson.
