Castleland RC&D
The Castleland RC&D Council, Inc. is in the process of revising their strategic plan, and your input is important to assure that Emery County’s resource concerns are addressed in our planning process. They are partnering with the San Rafael Conservation District and the Green River River Conservation District to assess the resources in the area. They welcome you to share your input. Christmas Candlelight Vigil
A Christmas candlelight vigil will be held at the First Baptist Church, 112 West 400 North in Huntington on Dec. 22 from 6-8 p.m. All are welcome.
Christmas Program in Ferron
A play celebrating Christmas called Anton’s Visitor will be held at the First Baptist Church in Ferron on Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. Everyone welcome and a cookie fellowship will follow the play.

Back Country Horsemen of Utah

USDA Reminder for Farmers

USDA Seeks Public Comment
The Farm Service Agency is still offering members of the public an opportunity to voice opinions about the Emergency Conservation Program and suggest ideas about improving ECP for the future. Interested individuals have until close of business on Dec. 24 to submit comments for consideration. An Evening of Christmas Music
The Huntington Glee Club and Women’s Chorus will present an evening of Christmas music on Dec. 23 at the Huntington L.D.S. Stake Center at 7 p.m. They will feature the cantata “The First Christmas in Bethlehem-The First Christmas in Zarahemla” words by Carol Lynn Pearson and music by Lex De Azevedo.
Arch Coal Foundation Teacher Nominations
The official closing date for nominations for this year’s Arch Coal Teacher Achievment Awards is Jan. 11. Arch Coal Foundation wants wants to recognize five excellent teachers with $2,500 personal cash award. Orangeville City Dog Licenses
2008 dog licenses are now available at the Orangeville City Hall. Fees are $25 for a non-altered dog and $8 for a spayed/neutered dog. A rabies clinic will be held on Jan. 12 and Feb. 23 at the new fire station in Orangville from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Forgotten Patient Christmas Project
The Forgotten Patient Christmas Project recruits volunteers to provide gifts for patients that would otherwise receive little or nothing during the holidays. Sponsors are given the name(s) of someone between the ages of six to ninety to provide Christmas for. Information about the person is sent to the sponsor and then will return items to the hospital prior to Christmas. Donations of cash or generic items are also appreciated. Cleveland Christmas
Cleveland Town will hold its annual Christmas party on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. at the town hall. There will be a short program, light refreshments and of course, Santa will make a special visit. Come and join the fun family holiday tradition.
Emery County Gun Club Schedule

A group of local residents have started a website dedicated to empowering the people of Emery and Carbon counties to articulate their points of view regarding the recent tragedies at Crandall, coal mining and coal mining culture, and the future of coal mining in this region. Spinal Care Classes
Spinal Care Classes are being offered free to the public by Dr. Ronald B. Sanders at Castle Chiropractic. These classes will help identify things that people do wrong that injure the spine. They will also discuss exercises and remedies to help alleviate back and spinal problems. This class lasts one half hour, from 4-4:30 p.m., and are given every Tuesday at Dr. Sander’s office at 46 East Main Street, Castle Dale.
Soldiers Addresses Needed
American Legion Auxiliary #42 of Ferron is looking for addresses from people of Emery County that have loved ones proudly serving our country in a war zone such as Iraq or Afghanistan. We have a program started three years ago called Operation Home Support which we send packages to soldiers, but we need help from Emery County residents with the names and addresses of your loved ones that are serving. They need a package from Operation Home Support to let them know they aren’t forgotten and that we care and support them. Share the Experience Photo Contest
The Utah Office of Tourism is encouraging amateur photographers with a love of Utah’s public lands to help promote the state’s beauty in a national contest. The Federal Lands Management Agencies, along with the Ford Motor Company and the National Park Foundation, are sponsoring the Share the Experience Photo Contest, honoring the best photos of American public lands. The contest is open to the public and accepting submissions until Dec. 31. A total of 14 photographs will be given awards for their excellence. The Grand Prize winning photograph will be printed on the 2009 Federal Recreation Lands Pass and the photographer will receive a new 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid.
