McKay Allred, Wade Bohn lead Spartans
Wrestling is a team sport, but it is a team sport with individual matches and this season Emery has two wrestlers that may be as good as Emery has had in a while. McKay Allred at 125 pounds and Wade Bohn at 189 pounds are having their way with opponents early in the season.
Wade and McKay, reading their faces as they wrestle, are comfortable out on the mat, in fact they appear to be relishing the pain they are afflicting on their counterparts. Coach Buck Taylor talks about his two stars; “McKay and Wade are dedicated and willing to push themselves to win, to push themselves everyday in practice. They have great attitudes and are good sports on the mat. They work hard both on and off the mat. These are two of the best that Emery has had in quite a long time.”
Last week, Wade and McKay each pinned their opponent as they wrestled north Sevier. McKay pinned his guy in 1:28 of the first round while Wade pinned his guy in the second round.
At the Manti tournament wrestling against North Sevier, South Sevier, North Sanpete, Fremont, Gunnison, American Leadership Academy, Monticello and an independent team from other schools; Wade and McKay each went 8-0.
McKay pinned all eight of his opponents, six of them in the first round and the other two in the second round. McKay only had 2 points scored against him in the whole tournament. McKay now has a season record of 19-1.

Wade pinned seven of his opponents but the eighth he defeated with a technical fall. A technical fall occurs when an opponent is losing by 15 points or more, the match stops at that point. Wade is now 17-2 on the season.
Coach Taylor again, “Wade and McKay set the tempo for the night with their matches. After they win, it seems to motivate those around them in the lineup to wrestle better. They encourage others to do better by their actions.” Both wrestlers have their eyes set to be on the podium at the 3-A championships.
Jace Guymon at 140 pounds and Kenny Baker at 215 pounds each went 5-3 at the tournament. Kenny also pinned his opponent against North Sevier. Josey Johnson at 285 pounds, Clay Collard at 119 pounds and Cade Whittle at 152 pounds went 4-4 at the tournament.
Also winning his North Sevier match by a pin was Clay Collard. Collard is a freshman.
Several good Emery wrestlers are out of action for various reasons and if they all make it back and wrestle as good as they can, Emery could be a force in the region for the first time in a while Emery starts region Jan. 3, 2008 at home against North Sanpete. Emery defeated American Leadership Academy in a match that was scheduled for Spanish Fork but was moved to Emery because ALA had mat problems. Emery won the match 66-18.
Zach Walls, Hayden Hatch, McKay Allred, Clay Collard, Jace Guymon, Cort Jensen, Jake Gardner, Wade Bohn and Drew Bohn all won their matches by pins. Colton Wilcox and Jacob Marshall won by forfeit.
