On Jan. 28 there were several accidents in Emery County. At milepost 6 there was a car off the road and a pick-up had run upon the trunk of the car. The accident was listed as weather related. Along SR-10 between I-70 and Emery and between Emery and Ferron, there were semi-trucks slid off the road. Many of the travelers along this stretch of road just stopped until visibility cleared. Wreckers along with the state road department helped get the trucks back on the road again.
Several coal haul trucks just parked in the road until conditions became more favorable to travel. It wasn’t snowing, but the winds were very strong and blew snow across the road in several locations and the blowing snow caused white out conditions for motorists.
At milepost 28 just north of Ferron by the storage sheds there were two vehicles off the embankment.
Another wreck occurred on Wednesday near Castle Dale with injuries reported in that accident.
Emery County Sheriff LaMar Guymon urges motorists to slow down during the winter storms or just stay off the roads if possible. Use flashers when traveling at a slow rate of speed and in low visibility situations.
