Emery High’s Nevin Jensen was the high scorer in the game at Cedar City .

The 2007-08 high school basketball season came to a screeching halt last Saturday night for the Emery High Spartans with a first-round play-off loss at Cedar High School. Final score was 59-35.
Emery was in trouble from the beginning as nothing that they shot would go in the basket and score the team some points. Only a lay-up by Tyler Killpack went in during the first quarter of action to immediately dig a hole for the Spartans that they would never get themselves out of.
Emery trailed at the end of the first period 12-2 and at the half 20-10. Decent defense by the Spartans prevented the margin between the two teams from widening as Emery hoped they would find their shooting touch.
Although the Spartans would score a little better in the second half, the deficit would never be cut because Cedar also scored better in the second half. Cedar consistantly hit mid-range jump shots as the Cedar players would find a seam in the defense and hit the shot. Emery was outscored 20-13 in the third quarter and 19-12 in the fourth quarter.
Leading the way for the Spartans was Nevin Jensen with 7 points. Second leading scorer in the game and the leading rebounder on the night and probably the leading hustler during the game was Tyler Killpack with 6 points.
Also scoring was Karson Jensen with 5 points, Dempsey Jeffs and Cameron Hansen with 4 points each and Jordan Gee and Gatlan Huntington with 3 points each. Brett Mecham, Colton Barnett and Tanner Procarione would each score a single point.
In other games involving region 8 teams, Delta won a squeaker at home over Region-11 fifth place team Grantsville, North Sanpete lost at home to Region-10 fifth place team Uintah and Juan Diego lost on the road at Region-9 second place team Canyon View.
