Annual Easter Egg Hunt


Join Emery County Care and Rehab for their annual Easter egg hunt on March 21 at 3:30 p.m. Bring a basket or bag for all your goodies.

Easter Sunrise Service


Easter sunrise service will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 South Main, Huntington at 7 a.m. on March 23. Breakfast will be served following the service.

Easter Egg Hunt in Cleveland


The Cleveland Elmo Youth town council will sponsor this year’s Easter egg hunt on March 15 at noon. All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. Bring your baskets and don’t miss the fun in Cleveland. It’s fun and it’s free and everybody gets a prize. Don’t be late, it starts promptly at noon. For more information call town hall at 653-2310.

A Night at the Museum


A night at the Museum will be held at the Museum of the San Rafael on March 27 at 6 p.m. featuring the newest nodosaur Animantarx-ramaljonesi. A coloring contest will be announced that night, along with tours, an open house, and slide show. Unveiling of the dinosaur will be held at 6 p.m.

CEUtah/WETC Second Annual Safety Fest


March 25, 26 and 27, at the College of Eastern Utah’s Western Energy Training Center, located at 847 North Hwy 191, Helper. Training will be offered at no charge. The training offerings will be expanded this year to include more mining and general industry safety courses. They will also be conducting training on our new board operators simulator which is state of the art. They will be working closely with industry on providing relevant safety training. Certificates of completion will be offered in the following areas, MSHA, OSHA, and American Red Cross. They will also be working with the Department of Workforce Services and Vocational Rehabilitation. They will also offer scholarships to people who are not currently working in the energy workforce as an effort to attract people into the industry and show them all the jobs that are available in the energy industry.

Castle Dale Independent Baptist Easter Services


The Castle Dale Independent Baptist church will hold Easter Services on March 23. At 9:30 a.m., a communion service will be held and regular services at 11 a.m. Services are held in the Castle Dale Senior Center.

Hey Teens, Win A Free Fishing Trip


Junior high and high school students are welcome to enter an essay contest to win a free fishing trip to Flaming Gorge Reservoir. The trip includes an overnight stay and meals with conservation officers and Utah’s top fishing pros. Winners will also receive a gift package of fishing tackle and one day of special instruction. To qualify, submit a 200-300 word essay on-line about what you would do to protect Utah’s future fishing resources. Tell us why fishing is critical, special, and an important part of your life, and what you would do to protect its future. In May, one winner in each grade from 7 to 12 will be selected. Free Class On The Archaeology Of Utah


A free one-day class concerning the archaeology of Utah will be held on April 12 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Rio Grande Depot (300 South Rio Grande Street, Salt Lake City). The class, which is sponsored by State History’s Antiquities Section and the Utah Statewide Archaeological Society, is free and open to the public. Young people in fourth grade and up may attend if accompanied by an adult. However, space is limited. Participants must pre-register by sending an e-mail to rrood@utah.gov with “April Class” in the subject line, or by calling Assistant State Archaeologist Ron Rood at 801/533-3564.

Horse Trainers Needed For Wyoming Mustang Challenge


Twenty-five talented Horse trainers are needed for the Wyoming Mustang Challenge to be held in conjunction with the Wyoming State Fair, Aug. 15-16, in Douglas, Wyo. The Wyoming Mustang Challenge pairs up 25 qualified horse trainers with wild horses provided by the Bureau of Land Management. The trainers then have 100 days to train the horses before competing for $10,000 in prize money. After the competition, the horses are available for adoption to qualified adopters, with a percentage of the adoption fees going to the trainers. The winning trainer will receive $5,000, second $2,500, third $1,000, fourth $750, and fifth $500. Trainers also receive $500 reimbursement for travel costs and a 20 percent commission if their horse is adopted for $200 or more The Mustang Challenge rules and regulations and the trainer application form can be found on the Mustang Heritage Foundation’s website at www.mustangheritagefoundation.org/adoptions.php or by calling 512-355-3225. Emery County 4-H Family Photos


Emery County 4-H family photos will be taken March 28-30 in court room B in the courthouse located at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. This is a great 4-H fund raiser so support the 4-H. River Rats Academy for Teens

They’re Back…Festive Fridays That Is


Festive Fridays, sponsored by Utah State University Extension are back for the spring season. March 14-Hop On In, Easter ideas; April 18-Lotions and Potions; and May 2-Family Reunions and Picnics. Emery County Gun Club


Draw for team league: Purse paid out each week. Participants name will be put on a playing card and then the cards will be shuffled and squads will be drawn at random. Must be present at 7 p.m. for drawing of teams. March 15 games at dark; March 21 draw league at 7 p.m.; March 29 games at dark.

Food Handler’s Classes


There will be a Food Handler’s class for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing home, school cafeterias, convenience stores or deli’s. Class will be taught in Castle Dale on March 27 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Health Department located at 25 West Main in Castle Dale. The Emery County Fair is now accepting applications for food and general vendors for the Emery County Fair which will be held on July 30, 31, Aug 1 and 2. To be an exclusive food vendor, you must have your application into the Emery County Recreation office by March 21. Applications may be picked up at the Emery County Recreation office, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or go to the website at www.emerycounty.com/fair/vendor.
