Arminta Marie Hewitt
EMERY – Arminta Marie Hewitt, age 75, died March 18, 2008 in Price, Utah. She was born Feb. 24, 1933 to Arnold L. Jacobsen and Martha Marie Jones in Emery, Utah. She married James H. Hewitt on July 19, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Arminta grew up in Emery and Huntington, Utah but spent most of her life in Emery. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was Auxiliary President for the American Legion. Some of her hobbies included: vegetable gardening and genealogy.
She is survived by her two children; Albert Johnny Hewitt of Gunnison, Utah, and Loretta Sanchez of Price, Utah; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brothers and sister; Clinton (Joy) Jacobson of St. George, Utah, Cecil (Florence) Jacobsen of Emery, Utah; Ceylan (Sharon) Jacobson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Larraine (Steve) Drummond of Nevada.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James; and her sister, Stella McKinny.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 12 p.m. at the Emery LDS Chapel. Viewing was held Thursday, from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Emery City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Mary Maxine G. Kitchen
Mary Maxine Gordon Kitchen, 85, died March 19, 2008, in Provo, Utah. She was born March 26, 1922, in Orem, Utah, to Curtis and Minnie Crandall Gordon. We celebrate her life as an extraordinary mother, entrepreneur, contagious personality. Everyone who knew her truly loved and respected her.
She is survived by her sisters, Genevieve Ford, Elizabeth Hawkins, Cumorah Holdaway, Dixie Smith, and also six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Russell Kitchen, her daughter, Lynnette Jeppson, sisters, Alta Jolley and Susie Jepperson, brother, Dee Gordon and great-granddaughter, Lynnette Roberts.
Maxine met and married Russell L. Kitchen, Sept. 15, 1939, in Orem, Utah. Maxine and Russell had three children, Lynnette Jeppson (deceased), Robert Leroy Kitchen, Fillmore, Utah, and Deanna Largent, Bellevue, Wash.
Maxine and Russell were prominent business owners in the community for years, operating the Orem Wedding Reception Center, catering to weddings. She also served as vice president of the Orem Chamber of Commerce in 1972. Also as a bridal consultant for ZCMI.
Maxine loved living at the ocean in Oregon, and everyone always looked forward to visiting and playing at the beach. Maxine’s greatest love was her music, and she loved to entertain, especially playing at the Orem Senior Center. Maxine will be missed by family and friends.
We celebrated her wonderful life at funeral services Monday, March 24, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem. Interment was held at the Orem City Cemetery.
Yochio Espino
HUNTINGTON – Yochio Espino, age 16, died March 22, 2008 in the Huntington Desert. He was born June 12, 1991 in Rexburg, Idaho to Daniel Espino and Berthila Leon.
Yochio was raised in Emery County, Utah, where he attended Emery High. He loved to hang out with friends and family, play sports, and be on the computer. He also loved playing with his nephew Aiden.
He is survived by his mother, Berthila Leon; brothers, Daniel Espino Jr., and Oswaldo Espino; sisters, Wanda Salazar, and Karen Clarke.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Notre Dame Catholic Church (210 North Carbon Ave. – Price, Utah) Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Steven Bruce Temple
PRICE-Steven Bruce Temple, age 36, passed away quietly and peacefully at the University of Utah Hospital on March 10, 2008 at 7:30 a.m.
He’s now in the hands of God and his pain and suffering are no longer.
Survived by his mother, Vondell; nephew, Shawn; niece, Sabrina; grandmother, Betty Lou Lander; daughters Nicole and Nakeysha (who were his life); and his ex-wife, Shirley.
He has joined his sister Valerie and his dad Bruce in Heaven. We all loved him and we will miss him dearly.

Grant J. Wilson
HUNTINGTON�Grant J. Wilson, age 75, passed away March 18, 2008. Grant was born March 23, 1932 in Huntington, Utah to Leonard and Clara Lela Grange Wilson. He married Nelda Peacock on Sept. 12, 1953 in Orangeville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized seven years later in the Manti LDS Temple.
Grant enlisted in the US Army at the beginning of the Korean Conflict, and lost his leg in the same to a land mine on Oct. 11, 1951. He was proud of his sacrifice in behalf of the citizens of the USA, and courageously faced down challenges that resulted from his sacrifice for the rest of his life.
Grant was a loyal son, father, and friend. He was active in his church and community. Dedicated to his faith, Grant served in numerous positions throughout his life in scouting, Elders Quorum, ward and stake Sunday school presidencies, and High Council. Civic positions include Huntington City Councilman, Democratic Party Precinct Chairman, Vietnam War Draft Board Chairman, school teacher, water master, farmer, and master horseman. He was a fearless defender of the “underdog”, and a scrappy challenger of the “top dog”. Grant felt called to aid those who struggled and suffered through no fault of their own. All who experienced his protection, compassion, loyalty and humor will miss him fiercely.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda; six children: Barbara Olsen of Broomfield, Colo., Gary J. (Terrie) Wilson of Huntington, Scott (Darla) Wilson of Cedar City, Utah, David L. Wilson of Huntington, Amy (Jeff) Richens of Price, and Kristin (Loren) Brinkerhoff of Syracuse, Utah; four siblings: Reid (Mavis) Wilson of Price, Bevan (Flo Ann) Wilson of Huntington, Ernest Wilson of Huntington, and Donna (Ron) Keener of Price; 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Loren Dick Wilson, Leonard Von Wilson, Bruce Lee Wilson, and Dale LeGrand Wilson; one sister, Lela Ann Van Buren; one son-in-law, Paul Olsen; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Wilson.
Funeral services were Saturday March 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center. A viewing was held Friday March 21, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street) in Castle Dale and one hour prior to the services at the Stake Center. Interment was in the Huntington City Cemetery where he was laid to rest with full military honors. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Katherine Lozinsky
EAST CARBON/ELMO-Katherine Anna Clements Lozinsky, age 88, passed away peacefully March 20, 2008 at Turnquist Retreat in Elmo.
She was born Nov. 4, 1919 in LaJunta, Colo. to Lester James and Lena Jenkins Clements.
Married John Lozinsky, April 24, 1944 in LaJunta, Colo.; he died April 11, 2004.
Katherine was a longtime member of the East Carbon Community Church where she held many offices. She was a resident of East Carbon since 1948 where she volunteered at the East Carbon Senior Citizen Center for many years. She enjoyed cross-stitching table cloths, baking for her family, and visiting with family and friends.
Survived by two daughters and one son, Betty (Terry) Jordan, Price, John H. (Kathy) Lozinsky, Hayden, Colo., Verna (Jerry) Stephens, Griffin, Ga.; sister, Norma Jean Flieschacker, Aurora, Colo.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by parents, sisters, Beatrice Snow and Dorothy Beard; and great-grandson, Andrew Dowton.
Funeral service, Wednesday, March 26, 2008, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service.
Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Mary Gallegos Espinoza
“Good Friday” was the day God chose to call Mary Espinoza back into his loving arms. On March 21, 2008, surrounded by her family, calmness came over the room as she took her last breath and passed away. She was born on July 14, 1922 to Beatrice and Cayetano Gallegos in Espanola, N.M. She was the youngest of six children.
Mary’s family moved to Montrose, Colo. where she met and married Eloy Espinoza on Aug.t 1, 1938. In 1948, they moved to Sunnydale, Utah, where Eloy worked at Kaiser Coal Mining Co. In 1953, the family moved to Wellington where they built their home. Mary and Eloy had 10 children, nine sons and one daughter.
Mary was known for her love of cooking, especially her pies. Mary worked in several restaurants in Price. If Mary moved to a new restaurant, her clientele would follow to continue enjoying her cooking. The last 10 years of her career were spent in the housekeeping department at Castleview Hospital, where she eventually retired on April 27, 1990.
Mary was very fond and proud of her family. She loved babies and animals, especially cats. She loved to crochet and made afghans for all her children and grandchildren. Mom had the greenest thumb around. She loved plants and flowers.
Mom, we love you; you’ve always been our “Hero”. Survived by her children, Raymond, Alpine, Calif.; Frances (John Escandon Jr.), Chula Vista, Calif.; Joseph (Lori), Albuquerque, N.M.; Johnny, Price; Sam (Pat), Wellington, Utah; Marty, Salt Lake City, Utah; Anthony (Karen), Albuquerque, N.M.; Gary, Price, Utah; daughters-in-law, Sharon Espinoza, Portland, Ore.; Pam Espinoza, Chula Vista, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; brother Paul Gallegos, Questa, N.M.; brother Silverio Gallegos, Salt Lake City, Utah; many nieces and nephews and their children.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Eloy, sons Jesse and David, granddaughter, Corrainea, daughter-in-law, Jeanine, sisters, Arcenia and Teresina, brother, Julian, and her parents. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass, Thursday, March 27, 2008, 10 a.m. Notre Dame Catholic Church. Vigil service, Wednesday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family suggest contributions to the Notre Dame Building Fund or any local charity of choice in memory of Mary.
Jason Eugene Migliori
PRICE – Jason Eugene Migliori, age 38, left this earth to join his Heavenly Father on March 19, 2008. He was born Sept. 4, 1969 in Moab, Utah but lived most of his life in Price, Utah.
Jason enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and most all-outdoor activities. His nephews thought he was the “best uncle” ever. Jason was very adept at jobs he tried, conquering most of them. He was always there to help the older generation and the young folks.
Jason leaves behind his wife, Jennifer; children, Colby, Dylan, Jashea, Mason, Morgan, and Aliyah; his father, Gene Migliori of Price, Utah; mother, Willie Lue Payne of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Thora Dowdell of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.
Jason will be missed by those that truly knew him as a kind and good-hearted man.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (680 East 100 South) in Price, Utah. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Rita Oviatt
PRICE-Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, Rita Axelsen Oviatt, age 84, passed away March 22, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 5, 1923 in Huntington, Utah to Percy and Lola Elizabeth Gordon Axelsen.
Married the love of her life Volmer Oviatt, Aug.5, 1944 in Price.
Rita was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a longtime resident of Carbon County. She was well known by many for her 28 years of dedicated service at JC Penney’s in Price.
Mom loved spending her weekends in Scofield or camping on the desert. She always looked forward to Melon Days in Green River every year and her home was always open for those wishing to visit. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Survived by her husband, Volmer Oviatt, Price; one son and two daughters, Kent Oviatt, Spring Glen, Peggy Hennings, Price, Susan (Henry) Etzel, Wellington; sister, Lois Abrams, Price; sister-in-law, Clara Axelsen, Price; grandsons, Michael Etzel, Salt Lake City, David Payton of Helper; friend and caretaker, Virginia Martinez.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Traci Tallerico; brother, Sheldon Axelsen; son-in-law, Bob Hennings; and brother-in-law, Jack Abrams.
Funeral service, Wednesday, March 26, 2008, 11, Price Third LDS Ward, 303 West 500 South. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:30 -8 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
