The Emery track teams have been on the road all season and are now ready to finally host a meet next Tuesday at the high school. Emery will participate in meets at North Sanpete and Uintah before hosting a qualifier meet.
Last week the Spartans went to Juab High for a qualifier meet and mostly came home tired and cold. According to Coach Darrell Gardner, “that was the worst ran meet that I have ever been to. We left at a little past 9 p.m. and it was still not over. Not only was it long, it was cold. It was a very cold wind blowing in Nephi.”
There were 20 teams participating in the meet and some events took a very long time to complete and on some of the races, the final results were still not published yesterday (Monday) morning. Here are some of the results from that meet. Tyler Killpack took first in the 400m and also in the 800m. Levi Swasey took second in the 110m hurdles and fourth in the 300m hurdles after hitting a hurdle and going down. McKay Allred took third in the 300m hurdles. Zac Clement took second in the javelin.
For the girl’s team, Lacey Montgomery took second in the 400m and fourth in the 800m. Madison Jensen took second in the high jump with a jump of 5’3″ and should have placed in the long jump with a jump of 16’9″. The 4x100m relay team consisting of Lacey Montgomery, Tennyson Fauver, Madison Jensen and Nikki Rogers took second.
For the season, Levi Swasey has the third fastest time in the state in any class in the 110m hurdles. Tyler Killpack continues to run strong in the 400m and the 800m. Madison Jensen continues to do well in the high jump.
