For the past year, the youth group at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. has held fundraisers. The money was to be used for the group to take a mission trip. Their mission trip goal was to come to a small town in Utah named Ferron, and help that congregation with their vacation Bible school.
The 19 teens arrived in Ferron at the First Baptist Church for VBS which was held June 2-6. Jungle Jamboree was the theme for the week and the 26 children from Ferron who attended were treated to Bible study, plays, skits, games, music and singing, crafts, and treats all centered around the jungle theme.
On Thursday and Friday nights, teen night was held and there were games, activities and devotionals for them. Another thing they accomplished while they were here was planting the lawn in front of the church building in Ferron. Pastor Shawn Allen is the youth pastor from Shiloh Hills.
“Pastor Shawn was a youth pastor in California and his youth group would come every year to help,” said Pastor Tim Lacock, pastor at the congregation in Ferron. “When he moved to Georgia, he began the same mission trip plans with his new youth group.”
