Huge fundraising event draws riders from near and far
The Southeast Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) held its third annual poker run on June 21. The event was hosted by the Log Palace Restaurant. BACA also had help this year from the Children’s Justice Center, Guardian Ad Litem and CASA. The funds raised at the event will be shared with all three groups. Chapter President Ted Allen said, “We had 71 bikes and 105 riders participate in the event. The route was leaving the Log Palace at 11 a.m. that morning riding to Sheep Creek to stop at the Sinclair for the second card. The riders then traveled to the junction of US-6 and 89. They turned onto 89 and traveled to the Walker Station in Fairview for their third card. From there the ride went on SR-31 to BK’S Stop and Shop in Huntington for the fourth card. The riders then returned to Price and all met to Price and all met at Wal-Mart, where they were greeted with a large welcome sign and cold water to drink. After drawing their fifth and final card the riders gathered once again to be police escorted back through Price to the Log Palace thanks to the Price City Police Department and Carbon County Sheriff’s Office.
“Once back to the Log Palace, dinner was served thanks to the fine folks at KFC in Price. During dinner BACA give away many door prizes donated by various business throughout the area. We would like to congratulate Charlie Jones who won the prize of worst hand for $100 and Marilynn Loose who won high hand for $200. The Southeast Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse would like to thank all those who helped make this a successful event and also thanks to all the business who donated the prizes,” said Allen.
