Well, the fourth of July is generally a hot holiday and this year was no exception especially in the town of Green River. A fire broke out behind the BookCliff Lodge on July 4. It burned weeds and debris, but no structures suffered damage.
It was a difficult area for the fire trucks to get into so the fire was fought with a helicopter and a bucket. The bucket carried water from the Green River and dumped it on the fire until the fire was extinquished.
Local firemen also fought the blaze which covered Green River with a thick blanket of smoke.
They also had a Cat making a fire break between the fire and a power transmission line to stop the spread of the fire. The fire was a concern because of the number of power lines in the area.
The fire burned 10-15 acres.
